That was always a really weird hire for them. I like Morris but him playing his style with Bert's players always seemed like oil and water.
Which is exactly why he hired him. Schools always hire the opposite.

Fulmer - Old and over the hill
Kiffin - Young and fresh, California vibe
Dooley - Back to our Southern roots, but negative demeanor
Butch - has had success, hype master, lacks Xs and Os
Pruitt - Real Coach with southern roots. Defensive master, but not a head coach

Next coach - seasoned veteran, articulate, focus on offense and whatever else Pruitt proves to be a weakness

So watching AL and Ole Miss, Arky, and Clemson UNC---- here's the difference in the underdogs and us----- those teams don't have a lot of talent like we do, but their mindset is different and they believe they can play and win... they are positive and well-coached. Ole miss isn't playing afraid and is being aggressive and letting it all hang out... and it shows. We have been going out with a defeatist attitude and little if any fire. Coaching has been mehh...

If there is a chance to get this team top to bottom to believe in themselves and all be on the same page, fighting for each other, going out and being fired up and not intimidated, we can do some damage--- even this year still, if somehow our team's mindset changes...

As long as we have this piss poor attitude, we will continue to get our ass whipped...

Fans are so funny and impatient. Incredibly impatient. Nobody wanted Bronco Mendenhall after the first couple years at Virginia. He was labeled a bust my many. Now four years into the program rebuild, a 4-0 start, and he’s this great genius coach Tennessee fans dream of.

Same with Cutcliff at Duke. He wasn’t good enough to be our coach a decade ago. He was old and washed up, we can do better we said. Things started out slow for him at Duke. But he changed the culture, built a respectable program and 10 years later Tennessee fans now wish we had him.

I’ll let some of you guys in on a little secret... Jeremy Pruitt didn’t become a bad football coach after moving to Knoxville. He inherited an enormous mess. Over a decade of bad decisions. And if given time, in a few years, I’d bet other teams would wish he were coaching their team. But it’s doubtful he’ll be given that amount of time by our fans and administration. He’ll most likely be fired this year or next and we’ll start all over again with another coordinator or head coach from a small conference. And do it all over again. The insanity will continue.

If you’re hung up on this argument that 2-10 to 6-7 isnt a favorable trend compared to 5-7 to 2-10 (possibly), then I don’t comprehend your logic and we are at a stalemate.

If we end up 5-7 then favorably comparing Pruitt’s record to Mendenhall’s won’t feel as much like desperately grasping at straws.
No I'm not hung up on anything. Just don't tell me we'd be happy with a 2-10 start for a head coach... Without the benefit of hindsight.... We have that with BM... Everything with Pruitt is TBD.

We were in on him till Mack took the job and upped the pressure I believe.we had a legit shot though.i think if Brian was named started and had a full game to play he could be as good if he settled in..we just don’t know what we have in my opinion.
This is where I'm at with BM. Give him the opportunity to get some rhythm and time with a game. You don't know what you have with him with that situation. On the other hand, you know exactly what you have with JG.
