It's just so hard for this instant gratification society to understand this. They want to pull up an order a coach off the menu, go to the window and pay, and then immediately get what they ordered. And just because you don't think it should, would or could work this way means you're accepting mediocrity. No, it means you're just as miserable about the situation, but you realize building the roster has to be the number one priority. After you have a roster with depth and experience you can then make another hire if necessary.
there's an old saying out there that doesn't get near enough play anymore...and it's real simple..."sometimes you gotta slow down, to go faster"

point being, if you have to keep doing it over, you're wasting time. slow down, do it right , and you'll get where you want to get faster than half assing it.

well, we've done the half assing to death.

time to slow down.....and then go faster......

See what proof do you have to support this conjecture? I've read far more that Mullen was #1 and we didn't pony up or we slow played and Schiano was #2.
Mullen was Currie's #1 choice, but he wasn't sure he could get him because the UF job was still open. Schiano was Currie's fallback plan if Mullen turned us down. He knew Schiano would take the job .. so Currie did not have any other candidates other than Mullen and Schiano. We know the rest of the story.

I find myself agreeing with Hank and Kingston more than I would care to admit. Not sure that's great company to keep but just being honest.
their takes are easily digestable, and require little to no investiment of time or thought....

"1-3 is bad, somebody should get fired...."

not trying to say anything towards you. just saying i understand why people might gravitate toward that line of thinking...on face value only, they're not going to be wrong most of the time......

Ehh. Different but essentially the same. Butch left a pretty bare roster full of “stars” that never lived up to the hype and guys that had to medically retire. I swear I’ve never seen more medical retirements out of this current group
Partly clearing up room imo. It's take a medical retirement or transfer and I'd say some just take the UT degree. Not fully a coincidence...

That's what frustrates me...Schiano shouldn't have been a top 10 candidate even.

Regardless of any of the Penn State related blowback. 68-67 as a HC at Rutgers, and even "after the rebuild" he went 4-8 in his 2nd to last year there. Then had all the issues at Tampa and was just 11-21 there and had not been a HC since 2013...

The Rutgers rebuild was also in the Big East. Just not a very impressive coach to be your HC. Currie is an idiot.

Since we are in to knit picking, I really don’t understand why CJP put No. 2 back in the game.

You made the switch to No. 18 at halftime. Just stick with it.

Ride it out and let him go.

No sense in taking him out IMO.
i thought it was odd too. but i was also aware of the couple/three picks he almost threw too.......im sure that scared 'em a bit....

like do we keep him or put 2 back in?

He threw 11 passes and 8 of them could have been picked. 18 was awful and that’s why he put 2 back in imo

For sure, make sense. I typically just log on during a break or lunch etc, read a little and go back to what I was doing. I really don't have the time or energy to be honest to do a great deal of analytical research.

I see the logic in what Phil did with this hire as a first time AD.

You bring in a guy & staff that can do 2 things. Recruit & develop.

You tell everyone that writes the checks. This is the hire, he'll be given 3-5 years to prove he can win on the field. If he can't he will have at least fixed the talent on roster for the next hire.

I thought maybe the thinking was let Maurer try, and let JG watch from the sideline which sometimes helps players when they go back in. If Maurer does well leave him in. If not put JG back in to see if he adjusts any. Then you have tape to watch on both and decide what could be the possibilities for the rest of the season.

This is one of the most encouraging things I continue to see, the emphasis on the younger players. I think it's a great use of promotion in regards to recruiting going forward. Henry T, Wanya, Crouch, Gray, Wright, I hope to see more of these guys (Harrison, McCullough, Keyton) not only in games, but also being used to get more guys like them to the Hill!

It’s in his blood...Polynesians ain’t B**ch have you seen their war dances😱👀👀🔥🔥🔥🤭 Q.Couch,Henry T.All we’re ready for the challenge especially Couch he has seen a Sh**y team first hand.

Yes, I thought that was the plan when he was hired.

Probably hoping it would kick him into gear.

I think BM had like 7 or 8 straight incompletions (minus the one he caught his own pass) at that point. The next drive we did indeed move the ball and had some good completions, then Chandler fumbled on UF's 35 smh.

Our greatest concern is defensive line recruiting.

I honestly think it’s coaching.the talent is there..you just can’t convince me it’s the players I think it starts with rocker we have a 5* DT that is making no noise..gotta be rocker.
