Just look at Butch’s first roster. Jaron Toney was the starting nickel and Max Arnold was the backup safety to Randolph or McNiel. Our DL and LB’s weren’t good either.

The OL was the only real good unit on that team. Dooley’s first roster wasn’t good either. Pruitt inherited better talent than either of them. I’m not saying to fire Pruitt. We need more players, but he isn’t worse off than those two.

I think everyone will agree, this is the year where Nieds will really show out if he is indeed the recruiting stud everyone thinks he is... this will be the hardest year to recruit for us based on our W-L record in year two...

The point of the article is that they aren’t better. Paper doesn’t matter the field matters. Butch had small guys. Listen to condredge on finebaum, he talks about Pruitt asking “where are all the big guys”. We have guys but they get worn down in games and that’s evident. I’ve thought for the last 2 years... we look small. At least this year we are looking the part. It’s just not deep enough yet.

I get that the the local media straddles a fine line between hostile agitator and state-propaganda, but Knoxville isn't unique in that regard. Likewise, the paysites will put out content that drives clicks and impressions, but you're going to find that's the case with paysites across the board.

Just curious as to what methods and tactics are utilized by the media here, and what role they're playing in the situation in and around the program. Any further insight would be appreciated.

He said he thought it was a combination of the size of the fanbase and the desperation to be good again. It’s very easy to sell hope here - and I think that’s something exclusive to the pay sites. They have a monetary interest in driving clicks and you get more clicks during recruiting and camp if fans believe things are going well.

It’s not like the old days where sports writers could depend on you buying the paper regardless of what they wrote because you still needed your local news, weather, etc.

We've been fairly competitive with Georgia this decade despite our record against them being 2 and 7. 6 of the 9 meetings have been decided by 8 points or less.

Out of the schools we have played every year this decade we have score the 3rd most points(217) against Georgia. Out of the schools Georgia plays each year we have scored the second most points on them. Only South Carolina has scored points on Georgia this decade and it's only by 10 points.

This decade it seems like we are most likely to play above ourselves against Georgia.

Y'all can say our roster sucks all you want but I'll continue to say we lost 189-89 over the past 5 games to teams with similar or less talent. Also keep in mind Franks, Toney, Henderson, and Zuniga were out for Florida.

No excuses for these last several games we have played folks.

Doyle averaged 40.3 a punt...and Brooks had a 36 yard punt. Not amazing, or even on par with normal production...but struggled might be a tad harsh.

Cimaglia though is on pace for his best season, already at 38 points through 4 games. Last year he had just 61 points.

Exactly, that is what I basically said earlier... the only excuse is, the talent we have is not being developed and coached properly...

Not a fan of the "terrible roster" narrative at all. If we were talking about a Georgia, LSU, Alabama, Auburn, A&M or such type of blowout/loss then sure paint the difference as roster talent.

But Missouri, Vanderbilt, Georgia State, BYU, and Florida (remember all that pre-season attrition?) nah, it's not the roster difference. It's been coaching issues more than anything else.

Yea statistically the punting wasn’t awful but the issue was the only longer punt (44yards) was a touchback so only a net of 24yards,

The other punts where we needed to flip the field were 36,38 and 40. Not what we needed

But boy you are right our FG is excellent right now

Georgia is about to boat race us and wont take their foot off the pedal. I know you want to be Captain Positive, but this will be uglier than the Florida loss and by a large margin.

Come on I didn’t say he wasn’t valuable. He needs to get a good raise and be paid on a high scale compared to primary recruiters

The op was just saying it’s ridiculous to suggest he deserves coordinator money

I dont know if I would say we have a terrible roster, but we do have some poor play from a few important spots on the field......namely QB and Safety. Those issues at those two positions have been glaring and IMO the start of the total effect of suckage we have been seeing on the field.
