Haha, very true. However, we have welcomed 3 disappointing hires in a row with open arms and optimism.

Everybody knows basketball will take a step back this year. I think fans are pretty realistic when it comes to basketball.

Sure they could beat the likes of GA State and (maybe)BYU, but could they handle our SEC schedule? I find that more doubtful, which leads me to believe we'd be calling for their heads in 2-3 years as well. As a fanbase, we're not going to be happy until we're successfully competing in the SEC again, and none of the coaches you listed guarantee that.

I'm sure we have at least 1 major booster (who also owns the Browns) trying to do lots of stuff behind the scenes to get Fulmer fired .. so CJP being a failure would be his preference.

The other way boosters can negatively influence CJP's program is during recruiting. If you want some specific examples, read "Meat Market" which is a book about Ed Orgeron's time as Ole Miss head coach.

Your conclusion might be correct! We might be bad either way! But it doesn’t mean you don’t try something else when the incumbent has been bad.

Here’s what I don’t get: no one wanted to give Butch more time. And he had much more equity built here. Two nine win seasons and all (myself included) kicked him out of here as soon as it turned sour. It could be argued he was much more likely to turn this thing around with his players than hiring someone new.

But we didn’t! We made what I think is the correct decision and tried something else. It hasn’t worked - but that doesn’t mean it won’t in the future.

I'm sure there is. There's really no reason that we should be worse this year than last. That's on the coaches and I'm sure theres a coaching staff out there that could get 6 or 7 wins out of this group of players.

To Swains point the only constant connection in the last 12 years is the boosters. Many different coaches, players, and administrations have cycled through here, but the boosters remain the same. Just saying

Better? I'm sure there are coaches out there who could have done better this season, but do we really want to buy out a coach to turn around and hire another coach we'll be buying out in 2-3 years? Do you believe UT is going to go out and hire a coach who has proven he can win at a high level? I don't.

Lol the money is irrelevant. It doesn’t come out of our pockets.

We’ve been paying buyouts in multiple sports for a decade and we’re still one of the most profitable programs in the country. I think we’ll be fine.

Let’s stop worrying about the pockets of millionaires.
