I’m not saying that Maurer is ready or JG isn’t playing better in practice, but my biggest problem is when things go south or one mistake is made our QB goes into a shell and so does our whole offense. He has to be a leader and pick his team up. They will play harder and fight to win if he is fighting. Since he doesn’t, they don’t either. That is why we need a change because every game will be hard to win and JG is not going to will anyone to a win. I would rather run the option with Maurer or JJ. We will not win more than three games with JG and Pruitt will seal his fate with this fan base by riding with JG. JMO of course.

This staff has to win football games. They know they can’t afford to throw the season away just yet and prepare for the future. The fact is JG gives them the best chance to do that. The priority should be to find what JG does well and to simplify everything for him. They are giving him too much control pre-snap and it needs to be reigned back so he gets out of his own head.

Lol sooo we are talking about practice and the upperclassmen that are butch recruits who are also transferring out as dead weight and dividing the locker room?..I’ll take my chances with JT or Maurer when the lights come on..we know what we will get from JG, “preferably” (Maurer) it’s widely an unknown with them,we just may have a diamond in the rough🤷🏽‍♂️ it’s been the same for 3 years now with JG. I’m done lol🙅🏽‍♂️

I thought Shrout was going in for Maurer on Saturday. Was surprised JG returned. But JG was fired up by the wake up call, for about two plays.

I completely agree about going into a shell

My take is IF things start well for JG there is a chance he can get hot and front run us to a few wins. I don’t think either of the other guys even remotely has a chance to do that. JG just isnt mentally tough enough to overcome adversity so the only hope is he doesn’t face any during a game

Nutt started the discussion and I think they set the cap soon after he signed 38 or so. Butch figured out the blue shirt loophole and now they're closing that. It might have been the conference that set the cap first.

Respect your opinion and it has been the same one Rexrode and the coaches have been using. Totally disagree personally. IT matters not to me if they win 1-4 games and that is what will happen with JG. You cannot simplify enough with JG and still win games. He's one dimensional with no feel for the position. The opponents lock their laser sights on him and know he does not look off his primary receiver or know how to make pre-snap reads. Maurer is clearly two dimensional and just needs experience. Shrout is probably one dimensional, however, he appears to think and react far quicker than JG. Both Maurer and Shrout have stepped up into the pocket to avoid the outside rush. Maurer did it quite well against UF. JG is stationary game after game after game.

Both Maurer and Shrout may have upside by playing and we know JG has to have the O dumbed down to have a shot at being effective since he has clearly regressed from last season, which was mediocre at best. If it was my call to make it would be survival of the fittest time. Best man wins every job on the field. One big tryout in practice leading up to UGA and throughout the month of October. But my tryout would exclude JG. He's the guy I would send in to mop up in a one sided loss to protect the starter.

JG's confidence has to be rock bottom. He's not naturally a vocal leader. Now, he's just mentally beaten down. He's really never been a gamer, but I wonder how he could have developed in better circumstances, with stability and different coaching?

Maybe he could flourish with a fresh start and a different style of coaching. You just never know.

Too bad we can’t MIB memory delete his past three years or give him the Eternal Sunshine treatment. He’s got the tools, just hasn’t been able to put it together mentally when it counts - during games.

This is probably what will happen until JG gets blasted into the upper deck and then they will not have Maurer or Shrout truly ready. Then it will be "we told you they weren't ready" junk.

My pet conspiracy theory is they are afraid that Maurer or Shrout might be successful and mess up their promises to Bailey. I just cannot see how JG achieves what is necessary to turn this season around. I think they are signing their own release forms and buy-outs by playing him.

Rich Eisen as a Michigan fan and alum voices much of what being a UT fan is like. It's 9 minutes, but encapsulates so much truth.
