Suspect hires? Who? He hired Martin and Chaney which were widely thought to be slam dunk hires. I'm sure some dipstick thought those were bad hires but 99% thought those were grand slam hires. Ansley also was well thought of. Most critical move was probably keeping Friend and the line has improved a lot with young players contributing there.You keep repeating that as if doing so will change the quality of the product these coaches are putting out on the field every Saturday. The reality is that Pruitt is a first time HC, who hasn't ever had to develop non-4/5* talent on defense prior to his hiring here at UT, and his coaching hires have been suspect at best given the regression we've seen at nearly every phase of play except for special teams.

Pruitt has struggled to be sure and fault him as much as you want but those hires were hardly "suspect".
