I still can't believe we kept the UGA game respectable for 3 quarters last season. Somehow I can't see that happening at all this year. More fearful of a 2017 meltdown.

Yes on the surface, but you have more faith or I have way too little faith in the NCAA actually doing something to help the student athlete that wasn't in some way to benefit the Universities or their pockets more. Probably a me issue after everything I have witnessed from the AA over the years.

I’m betting he doesn’t return to houston. Pretty clear Houston talked him into doing it this way in hopes of changing his mind. He’s gone the day after he graduates imo

Maybe. I'm just saying it is a strategy I've thought about recently and could be viable for some - some kids want to play 4 and redshirt, then transfer. What about just staying and extending your eligibility without uprooting your entire life?

It just feels this way because we are so bad right now. But we were better last year, in year 1. We were 2nd nationally in returning starters, guys. This isn't because of some rule that most schools already abided by anyway. It's because of us. We took a boatload of returning players and have made them worse as a team. That's on us.

No it definitely didn’t start with Butch. Others have been saying Houston Nutt started it. I remember Saban bringing in a lot early on too. My recollection may be off, but for a time it seemed like there were always 5-7 teams over 25, and 1-2 with 30+. It was a pretty common practice hence the rule change.
