25 hard cap is ridiculous.

NCAA is a joke. I say sign 35 and deal with it later. Make it a legal matter. It is not fair to teams trying to flip rosters with new coaches who need to get bad blood out of their program.

I would put in some packages for Maurer... 2-3 series a game to see if he can give you that spark and develop him. If he goes off, you’ve got yourself a QB, but to pull the rug on JG and then have Maurer be worse then costs you the engagement of JG when you need him again possibly

I think the only reason Shrout and Maurer haven’t started is because of Pruitt. Maurer was throwing the ball around like crazy when he came in at Florida. JG only hands the ball off 75% of the time. I think Chaney doesn’t trust JG and how can we put a QB in that you won’t ever throw the ball with? Maurer will make mistakes but he gives us a better chance to win than JG.

I may be in the minority, but I'm not sure I want to through Maurer or Shrout out there as the starter against UGA. I would be worried they get the Petereman vs FLA result and ruin their confidence for good. Let JG take the beating from UGA/Bama. IMO we still trot JG out there to start the UGA game and play the other 2 QBs if/when the game gets out of hand.

After the Bama game is over, then would be the time to start Maurer and/or Shrout.

I was simply relaying what he said. Never said one way or the other in terms of it being true or not. And if you don't think there's a high possibility of what he said being true then you haven't been paying attention.

I don't agree with that to a degree, Georgia's defense isn't some behemoth. I think Mauer would take some tough shots but he is a gamer, way more so than Peterman ever was. You trot JG out there you are basically conceding victory at kickoff.

JG makes us one dimensional from the first snap. They’ll stack the box, **** down our run, and it will be a long frustrating day.

This team needs a renewed hope and energy. JG brings no energy or hope to the team and they play like it. Maybe they will rally around a new QB with some fire and play hard. If they play hard together, they can still win a few games on our schedule. I’m afraid if you keep putting JG in, the team will quit before we get to winnable games.

I can see your point.

I have been trying to figure out why JG regressed from last year. I think it may be because Cheney has given JG more control of the offense vs last year in terms of changing the play,blocking scheme, etc prior to the snap. Don't think JG can handle that much. The only sliver of hope I still have for JG to be a serviceable QB would be to go back to not allowing him to make changes at the line and give him one more chance vs UGA. You would still keep playing the backup QBs during each game to get them ready to take over soon.

I'm with you. Dobbs got his first playing time in the 2nd half vs Alabama and that was a ferocious D-line. He went out and made plays and didn't get killed in the way the starter was because he had pocket awareness and mobility. True Freshmen QBs are succeeding all over the country right now i'm honestly tired of us being afraid to play ours vs a good team. Put the kid in, let him learn and see what it's like to play against the best of the best. If we play JG we might as well just forfeit the game imo.

Also I’m glad night game. I’ll be traveling to Florida all day and should get to beach around before kickoff. There’s a cool outdoor theater at the Hub on 30A. Usually riddled with UGA fans. Should be a good night watching us get abused to start my vacation. GBO!

Only way you start Jg is if your ready to pull a crompton. Limit his reads. Limit his control and play check with me so he can just play pitch and catch. He clearly cannot take on all the load he claimed all offseason he was excited to take on. I was worried about that because I didn’t see him as that type of player to put so much trust in. NCAA should think about doing this. Allow 1st year coaches to sign a class of 35 once. Either 1st or 2nd class. Help them build their own roster quicker which may also help reduce the high turnover of coaches.

I expect the NCAA to adopt this as soon as we build a decent, full roster of our new coaches own players. So, 2028?
