He was at Texas. Kind of mixed bag there because it was near the end of Mack Brown’s term and he was splitting duties with Major Applewhite I think.

Successful head coach - has proven it with his own players. Runs a modern offense - seems to prioritize good QB play and they produce RBs like crazy.

I like the guy a lot.

Ohh yea that’s right. Who was the OC Florida’s had for a year from Boise?

Still coaches from those 3 schools scare me. (Obv Chris Peterson is working out)

Just stop. You know Darn well the rule encourages kids to leave 1/3 of the way thru a season.

If you say you don’t just go familiarize yourself with the guy playing Qb at Mizzu right now
No it doesn’t. It was an option for a player. Go familiarize yourself with Jalen Hurts. He had an actual redshirt as an option if he’d only played 4 games. Until the SEC Championship, he wasn’t needed to hand off at the end of games but he went out there anyway...knowing he could make one last stab at another program. Bryant was a starter UNTIL the 4th game and had an option with the rule...otherwise his career was over ending up as a backup in his final season. You prolly couldn’t count high enough to document the players throughout NCAA football history that got thrown out on the field for a play or two and lost a season of eligibility. It’s a great rule...deal. 😎

Absolutely I think we would have at least made it a game with an average QB. Cant guarantee a victory, well because it's the swamp.
That and our DL just isn't very good.

As long as we have to blitz like we did Saturday to pressure the QB and to stop the run... We're in trouble...

At least a good QB could move the chains and put up the occasional score...

Btw our run defense was stellar until the game got out of hand. We more than held our own there

I just wonder what happened.
I think we would all agree we have better personnel on offense and more experience. We also added tee who is an upgrade at WR coach.

Was Helton a much better OC than we gave him credit for?***(outside of the last two games when i think he was checked out and knew he was leaving)***

He wasn’t flashy or anything but he got creative at times and must have done a good job of masking JG or something.

Is Chaney just demanding too much? I know he loves vertical patterns in his concepts but i see us running a lot of short routes and swings/flats.

Yeppers. Scapegoat JG. Although JG deserves only 80% of the fault.
JG has had the crap beat out of him the last 2 years. I was really hoping he'd be the QB butch recruited but he's been beat down and abused and I don't think he'll mentally recover while he's at UT. It's time to put in #18 and roll with him.

*I hope that Harrison Bailey is NOT the reason for leaving JG in and not starting Mauer.

To me it’s pretty simple what happened. For the most part JG wasn’t criticized a year ago or at least to the level he is now. At least statistically he could look himself in the mirror and think he was doing ok

Now that adversity is hitting him publicly and on the stat sheet he isn’t mentally tough enough to overcome it.
