What happens if we fall behind quick?

Chaney will have to be a magician in terms of not going too conservative but also not letting JG do something to give UF an easy path back in.
Really. That's when Chaney isn't at his best so say the dawg faithful. You gotta keep pouring it on. UF could be in for a long day if we get our running game going. Not sure how good UK's OLine is compared to ours and also factor in UF was playing without 2 starters in their front 7. What worries me most is JG getting pressured leading to a T/O. Guy needs to know when pressure is coming and respond in some manner. I just don't get his style and seldom does he ever step up in the pocket. By doing that it pulls the LBs up and gives receivers more space.

Regardless of how it happens, what adjustments at QB will be made if we fall behind quick to UF, say 10-0 or 14-0. Will JG be replaced, or will the coaches stick with the guy since it’s Florida and not Chattanooga? If they do decide to go with a different QB in such a situation, do you think it would be Shrout or Mauer?
Don't think that JG will be replaced in the first 3 mins.

I find it hard to believe they would throw in an inexperienced QB into the swamp. It will only happen due to injury.

Normal vs Florida. Blink and it’s 14-0. If we break this code we have a chance.

Did you watch the UTC game?

JG- 7-8, 142 yds, 3 tds
Maurer & Shrout- 3-12, 23 yds, 0 tds, 1 int

Pruitt hamstrung Shrout and Maurer by not letting them play with 1st string players, then wouldn’t call passing plays for Maurer. Several drops by backup receivers, and Shrout’s interception was nullified by a penalty. Guess you missed Maurer’s running touchdown.

if we fall behind early then we will be going for it on every 4th down.

I expect JG to be sacked 3 times in pregame warm ups, and 1 interception!

If we are down by more than two touchdowns before halftime, I don’t see us rallying. We aren’t a come from behind kind of team.
I know Pruitt referenced BM throwing deep to Keyton as a “horrible decision” but I would bet my paycheck that the thought of “I wish I had that opportunity” crossed at least 3 different receivers minds at that moment.

Here is the way Tn luck goes. Fla leads 6-0 with a minute left and Tn has the ball 1st and goal from the 4 yd line and JG throws a Int to seal the win for Fla.

Let me flip the script here. What if we get a quick lead? Do we keep the foot on the gas or try to use our tailbacks to waste time off the clock?

This has been 1 of his issues since day one. Holding on to the ball too long and making the throw late.

It looks to me like JG is simply too tense and afraid to make a mistake. He honestly doesn't look like he is having any fun out there. If I was CJP, I would tell him I don't care how many interceptions you throw, just go out there and play ball. If we lose to FL by 30, wasn't that supposed to happen anyway?

I’m proud of the kid. This was his coming out party and that blastoff that will be the rest of the season.

Let’s Go Vols!!!!

Pruitt and the boys could write their names into our history books this Saturday. I hope they know what a big chance this is to put things right. I'll always love Tennessee if they don't but it'd be so much less painful if we could resurrect the glory days, if only for a weekend...

They are not as bad as he says. JTS looked every bit as good as JG did week 1 and 2. And BM wasn’t given a chance to put an egg on his face for a reason. I think he’s afraid to lose HBs commitment if BM touches the field tbh.
This is delusional. JT looks as good as JG did the first 2 weeks? Lol. Come on man, all credibility lost on that one.

Any reasonable fan looked at how Shrout played vs UTC and immediately understands Pruitt said what he said about the QBs on this team.

Also, interesting how you went the nebulous route of “JTS looked as good as JG the first 2 weeks”, rather than just making the easy comparison of how both players fared vs the same competition this week vs UTC. Here, let me remind you....

JT- 3-9, 23 yards, 0 tds, 1 int, QBR-28.0

JG- 7-8, 142 yds, 3 tds, 0 int, QBR- 99.7
