Remember when some of us wanted Les Miles?

Well, he’s doing well with Kansas. Has them 1-1, and currently beating Boston College 41-24 right now and they were 19.5 point underdogs.

I was in the camp of trying to hire Miles. Anyone think our record would be better with him?

1-1 > 0-2
You know what I meant. I would have gladly taken Miles, but it's a little comical to start pining for him and use his start as an example when he was a play away from the same start we had against a worse schedule.

Easy answer. Yes an SEC and National Championship level head coach would be doing better at UT than they are at Kansas and they’d be doing bettter than a first time HC who is winless this season.

If we played Kansas tomorrow, they would run all over us. Probably have a score close to what the Boston College vs Kansas game looked like at finish.

Les was fired because he struggled to get a decent QB. But so did Ed-O for a few seasons, but now he finally found one. First real QB LSU has had in a long time. Les didn’t just forget how to coach football. He’s a winner. They slipped up against Coastal, but those kids he is coaching at Kansas aren’t used to winning like that. Les will get consistency out of them.

He’s beating Boston college. Is that supposed to be hugely impressive? I wanted Scott Frost and they don’t seem to be making the jump yet at Nebraska but it’s only week 3 now so we’ll see. There’s a lot of games left to play before saying we should’ve hired someone else.
Kansas hasn’t won a road game against a P5 team since 2008.

So the criteria for hiring a HC at TN is can you beat Saban? Lol. Ok 🙄🙄

Nope. But if youve already proven over and over that you can't, with as close a talent level as Bama has, then no thanks. Frankly, those games were never even that competitive.

Now 47-24 Kansas...

All I’m saying is, he’s making Kansas play to a much higher level than they have in years. I’m not against Pruitt, but objectively speaking, our stock isn’t trending upwards

Dude he just lost to Coastal last week.

And they are not hireable. That means we are in the bottom trying to find the next up and comer.

But you said you wouldn’t hire Les because he could do it....

Then you acknowledge there are only a handful in the game that are doing it.

Since they are not likely to be picked, you settle on an up and comer who may or may not work out or someone like Les who got fired from a Top 5 job after tons of years there and wants back in coaching. And it’s clear by taking the Kansas job, he has that fire back because you don’t take that job unless you’re 100% motivated to get back to that level in the coaching ranks
