Just wait until everyone gets college. And then they just need more after that. Cause grade school, err high school, err college just isnt enough these days. Meanwhile we are paying laborers more than PHDs and the "idiots" are laughing all the way to the bank.
The goal of high school now is to prep for college not prep for real life.If everyone is walking around with a degree it will make for a better educated society. But everyone won't have a degree. Those who aren't motivated or equipped to attend college still won't be going even if it's free.
Besides having more educated people creates more competition for jobs and results in more capable people filling those jobs.
Having a better educated laborer is a plus also. They will probably require less supervision and have more initiative. Plus they will be more equipped to manage their financial and home life. +++++

Lol. They would also require more pay. Meaning less gets built. Including everyone favorite affordable housing.Having a better educated laborer is a plus also. My youngest son is reading small books to the class in K. My 2nd grader is reading good sized chapter books. We lucked into a very good charter school. Schools that would likely be taken away or limited by the current batch of leftiesThey need that down here. My boss was complaining that it wasnt right for her son in second grade to be required to read.

but if it's free there is no motivation to not try. Then they fail out after a couple of years and are no closer to having a marketable skill. This needs to happen in HS not when they're 22yo with nothing going for themThose who aren't motivated or equipped to attend college still won't be going even if it's free.
If the left is so educated why are they willing to let politicians with terrible track records solve all their problems ? Wouldn't a more educated person choose to be less reliant on others? To solve their own problems and make their own choices?Statistics bear out that the ignorant and uneducated have flocked to the Republicans(?). Donnie even stated how much he loves the uneducated. I believe you guys are afraid that a more educated society will see through the great Right wing ruses such as trickle down economics and weakening of environmental regulations. They may even understand that the tax breaks for the wealthy and corporations really haven't benefited them significantly. .
I agree with you on this point but look at what you are saying. That college educated laborer's degree lost value.
A better option is to increase the standards in HS and make sure every HS graduate is employable.

A college educated laborer's degree is not lost value as I stated in my previous post. It certainly benefits the employer. Education is always a net gain. I agree with the need to increase HS standards.
You have a point but then you make it even harder for those without a degree to find employment.
In my little corner of the world I'm hiring college graduates for positions that I use to fill with HS graduates, these are hourly technician jobs.
I don't see what difference it would make. I would guess half the kids in college now either don't want to be there or have no business being there, not sure we benefit from adding to those numbers. Some folks aren't built for college. One can make a hell of a living without college. You're right - in part - of course. But, having a more educated society would be an overall benefit, would it not?
