This is insane. No one is being forced to play sports. You said 4-12 years of experience, are you saying pee wee league is experience for professional sports? Do you also think that digging as a child would give one the experience to be an archaeologist? There is also nothing legally or illegally stopping an athlete from having a job so that argument is illogical. You could argue it would be a lot of work to be an athlete with a part-time job.

High school sports are also not child labor. You should ask some actual child laborers working in terrible conditions in other countries if they think that playing a game is "child labor".
I take it Kingston didnt letter in s**t

I played a sport for both high school and as a walk on for a D1 school. never felt I deserved anything. It was my choice because I enjoyed competing in the sport.

I am an attorney. If you don’t receive income, I think it’s a poor choice of words. Pretty sure I know the topic I am discussing.

You can call it whatever you want.

Informal Labor or Unpaid Labor would be more accurate terms, since workforce is also inclusive of the unemployed when used to describe a countries workforce. Congratulations on being an attorney, what relevance is that to our linguistics discussion?

You're referring to labor laws. Seems relevant if he has experience with labor laws or tax laws.

Parenting is not a workforce.. as a parent of two... it's a responsibility, not a job and I'll never expect to get paid for it.

We're not discussing if it's a "job" or should be "paid"

Actually, parenting is a poor choice. "Child care" the same thing a parent does unpaid is also something that day cares and nannies are paid to do. All performing the same "labor" would be apart of the same workforce, regardless of which is paid or unpaid and which individual is paying taxes.

It's a semantics argument I guess, but I don't have a law degree so what do I know?

Maybe that’s where you and I differ - I don’t care about “college football” - I care about the workforce being adequately compensated for its time and labor.

The system is corrupt and needs to be corrected.
Are they going to pay the softball players the same as the football players? How much will the rifle team make? Creates too many issues the NCAA or Universities are not set to handle. So that’s why they equalize it with scholarships for education. I get what your saying and I’m in favor of good old capitalism too, but in the world of collegiate athletics, it’ll never happen.

College football players are part of the same workforce as NFL players, one is simply not earning traditional wages for their labor.
It's an activity these people choose to engage in because they enjoy it. Again, I was a walk on. Never in my life, did i ever think i was "at work". I enjoyed it and still do as I choose to pay a league to play the sport I enjoyed. Why should I be considered an employee?

Key word in your statement is traditional. Looking around at all this college debt out there, I think getting a free education, food, and training to continue into a professional career (football or not) is pretty worthwhile.

You're welcome to whatever personal opinion or perception you want. I've also, still not used the word "employee" the term workforce is an umbrella term and vague, that's all I'm pointing out.

Don't disagree there at all. I just want my NCAA football game back on PS4 with updated graphics & game-play, that's all I care about.

HEARD THAT!!! I could get behind the developer of the game paying the players for their likeness but I don't know how to best determine the worth of each players likeness

I read into this awhile back. Madden sets a flat rate, every single person is paid the same % (spoiler alert it's very low). I think some NFL players said it was a few hundred in a good year. lol

It doesn’t work that way.

I think a tier system based on your rating would be pretty appropriate but the thing is there are so many players and teams on the games the players would make practically nothing so what's the point in the first place, obviously other than getting the game back

Pete Alonso commemorated 9/11 by buying all his teammates custom cleats honoring the fallen to wear for the game. The baseball gods have been active this year — looks like they rewarded him with an appropriately symbolic win. Check out the box score:

Alonso surprises Mets with heartfelt 9/11 tribute

Wow, I skeptically thought this might one of those doctored scores to make the story even better, but no, that actually happened! Amazing!

as much relevance as saying a college football team is unpaid labor?
