Don’t want to get (way) too ahead of myself, and I don’t even know WHO the accompanying assistant was, but anyone else feel that English may be getting groomed? Most likely just me.
Pruitt's words from coach's show (I think you may be right)
"It's easy to be a leader after the game or in a player's meeting but what about when the bullets are flying, when it really counts? I think we've got SOME really good leaders on this team and the young guys respond really well to them"
Absolutely reading between the lines on my part, not pretending otherwise. But there was a way that he said it.
Eh I don’t see how firing him will do us any good at this point. I mean who is willing to come here? It’s clear that the best players on the team are JP guys, I just hope we play more of them. The two biggest things holding this team back is JG and Warrior, this is a long rebuild so I get fans becoming impatient. I’m impatient matter of fact but after this weekend I pretty much told myself we’ve gotta give this guy a chance I think he’s a good coach but he still ha a lot of learning to do ( ie the last two weeks, mainly GA State)I’m reasonable enough to know we aren’t going to fire Pruitt.
I’m also reasonable enough to know we probably should fire Pruitt.
With that said there was something about his demeanor in that presser that gave me confidence. I know he still believes in himself and doesn’t have the deer in the headlight look. Strangely I liked what I just saw from him
If we were 1-1 and the loss was to BYU I think everyone would be disappointed but okay. That GSU loss killed us around here. And you know, that loss is on Coach Pruitt. No excuses for that. He did not have his team ready because he felt they were going to win easy, and he was wrong. He has to learn from that, I think he will. Doesn't help that JG played terrible also. If he doesn't, we win anyway.I don't know why everyone is so down, we haven't even lost a conference game yet! It's all still in front of us!
He's a leader. He really is. I want Pruitt to be the guy. I think he is. I really do.
More than likely Oliver who’s definitely no recruiting slouch. Even before that article, I was reading into VQ reports and others. I don’t believe in the coach in waiting concept, but it has worked. Tom Izzo was a beneficiary and kinda worked out. There was some competition for English and programs are going to start putting him on interview lists. Cart before horse.Gary Parrish has said English is a star waiting to happen. He has moved up quickly without much experience because he has “it.”
Not sure that’s who went though because I think Oliver might have had the long term connections, being from NC.

People's being so easily persuaded by words is why politicians and used car salesmen do so well in this world. How many more games to far inferior opponents do we have to lose before your excitement diminishes? I don't dislike the guy and I hope he turns it around, but I'll never understand how people are "excited about him" based on a few minutes of a speech or "are certain he's the next great coach" based on zero head coaching success or experience.I'm right there with you. This guy is the only coach I've been excited about since Fulmer.
