Yes, JG is hindering this team, no doubt. But he's gone after this year. I don't think recruiting is going to go off of the cliff for the most part. Bailey isn't going anywhere. If you read the article from VQ, he and the guys who are committed talked about how much they need to stay in this class, and they all agreed. We might lose 1 or 2 guys committed, but I don't think this is going to fall apart. If we don't finish strong to the season, and there's still a chance that we can, then we probably won't land the Jarrett's or Gilberts. But this class can still be a strong class to help us because I think we get Baron and Hardy in this class no matter what. We have BJ already in, we have our QB of the future, and we have some good skill talent in this class. So I don't think recruiting is going to die unless something really crazy happens like a loss this weekend or a 2-10 season. But I don't believe that either of those things are going to happen. Not with JG at QB Bass, and we all know it... so basically this season will be our worst probably in program history as long as he is the guy behind center, so if you are good with that and actually think recruiting isn't going to go off the cliff, you are drinking too much orange kool-aid I'm afraid...
I know you said you didn't think recruiting would take a hit, but no way these high tier kids we are in the mix with are going to pull the trigger on this...
"JG is the starter and willl remain the starter. We need to find a backup QB, but opportunity hasn't presented itself". - Pruitt
November Vols will look a lot different than August/September Vols."Pruitt isn't developing any of the players argh Fahr him!" Meanwhile Bumphus has gone from 4th team to first team DL and was one of the best players on the field Saturday... Oh, and the OL played better Saturday than any time last year.
We really are inexperienced and we lack depth. Pruitt talked about this today in the press conference. We had 7 returning starters on defense. Well, we lost Thompson, Gooden, Bituli, and Baylen so we were left with only 3 starters returning. As far as depth, right now we have 4 scholarship ILB's that can play: Ignont, Henry, Reid, and Banks. Of those, Henry is a freshman, Reid has never played at TN until this year, and Banks has never played the position period. We have two scholarship running backs right now that can play outside of Beasley. It shouldn't surprise us that we are struggling with some things this year.
This also tells us that we are going to get better as we get more experience and as Bituli and Thompson come back.
