Amateur Hour Continues

I wasnt going for the religious angle. I just find it ironic and interesting that in most cases people, not necessarily you in this case, will say they dont like religious zealots because they are always trying to force their ideals and beliefs on others and persecute and call out those publicly who dont agree.

Just strikes me as odd that is pretty much exactly what the leftists are doing. Zealots just without the religion aspect.

I find it fascinating that you presupposed an argument, baited it and when it didn't pan out - went on to topple the fantom argument anyway.

Was it as rewarding as you imagined?

Any candidate bringing up those ideas is going to get blackballed by those in power. I don't know much about him, but I like him more than anyone else just because of that statement.

He was on a really good trajectory to be a Rand Paul type...maybe a little more traditional, but similar. He had an affair and was disgraced and stepped out of the public eye. He came back after a few years and won office again because his ideas are good and he is consistent

@carlos86 what's your Rx for the U.S. in Afghanistan?

I would get a group of company commanders from both the SF, infantry, engineers, Intelligence and a group from the state department and look at how the Soviets lost the war there and do the opposite. Also incorporate David Petraeus’s counter insurgency strategy, control all the major city’s by basing the ANA and ANP in neighborhoods and control all the arteries of travel and supply. Increase the amount of air power and ISR. In Afghanistan ISR assets are nodded on by the area commanders. So the commander in Kabul has priority or the commander in Bagram. When you have more ISR assets it’s easier to find the Taliban in the open and engage them. Get congress to revoke all military aid to Pakistan until they go after the Haqqani network. Apply more pressure on the Taliban. Make them desperate. Get Taliban leaders who want to lay down arms to reconcile with the Afghan Government. Get the Afghan Government to give the village elders more autonomy and representation in the government with the perquisite being that they must deny the Taliban and organizations sanctuary.

Do you think that if we could magically stop the flow of fighters into the country, that Afghanistan could be fashioned into a non-threatening, self-contained nation, not requiring US troops?

Yes. Nearly all of the Taliban are Pakistani or from other countries.

We had to extract our top spy in Russia May 2017 because of Trump's attacks on our own IC.

Making America great, one classified leak at a time.
