Great list. Thanks!!1. Desi Vega: absolute must. Little pricey but worth it. Casual attire. Who Dat shrimp. Porterhouse steak.
2. Creole House: Good La. food with good prices.
3. Ruby Slipper: Awesome/funky breakfast place.
4. Deanie's: Seafood. A little pricey.
5. Cafe Du Monde: Beignets and coffee (cash only). Not the best food but a N.O. landmark.
7. The Gumbo Shop: Gumbo.
8. Commander's Palace: formal (wear tie). Pricey. Reservations necessary.
9. Brennan's: Amazing brunch. Dress up and pricey. Bananas Foster
10. Bourbon House: Oyster bar and nice restaurant.
11. Willie Mae's Scotch House: soul food. Best fried chicken on the planet. Outskirts of city. Area feels sketchy but it's safe.
IMO...
12 Mother's: Po Boys are meh
13. Mr B's Bistro: overpriced, over rated.
Slightly related, any recommendations on places to stay? Will be there Sunday-Wednesday and will be doing the basic tourist stuff. Hoping there are good, clean and maybe cheaper options available that people have experience with.
We stayed at the Omni Riverfront. Walk out the back of the hotel, hang a right, and go in the entrance to Harrah's. You can walk all the way through the casino in the air conditioning and come out on Canal Street.Slightly related, any recommendations on places to stay? If you don't have to be in the French Quarter we like the Alder Hotel.Slightly related, any recommendations on places to stay? Will be there Sunday-Wednesday and will be doing the basic tourist stuff. Hoping there are good, clean and maybe cheaper options available that people have experience with.
At the end of Canal St., I like to take the ferry across, then walk a block or two down to the Crown & Anchor pub. Have cash for the ferry. We stayed at the Omni Riverfront.
