I agree mostly, but it can be someone who isn’t the rockstar but has shown a modicum of success at a P5 school. Not your guys or a Peterson, Leach, Fitzgerald (we aren’t going to get them now), but maybe a Mendenhall or Rhule type.

Who knows.

Agree. It doesnt have to be a homerun name hire but they have to have been a successful head coach.

I'm going have to log off for a while. Pruitt has said repeatedly practice hasn't been a problem. Doug Matthews said Saturday was 98% on the coaches. Brent Hubbs, Pat Ryan. Jeff Francis, and Erik Ainge have said similar things. Doug was adamant in his defense of the players yesterday on 180. He insinuated Jauan Jennings was more of a man than Jeremy Pruitt for the way he handled the situation. Pruitt is slight of hand throwing his team under the bus because he's a pussy and can't handle the heat he's brought down on himself. And a lot of folks on here seem to be buying his BS.

Everybody I’ve listened to both “inside” and outside the program has to one degree or another really trashed the coaching effort last week. I’m not sure Jeremy thinks it was wrong. I think Fulmer thinks it was wrong and I think there a lot of players on our team who think it was wrong. I damn sure think it was wrong.

Here’s where I think our problem would be. We think we know Jeremy had issues with some bigwhig at Alabama, such that according to our “respected” source he would never be allowed to take the head job there, regardless of whether or not he was successful here or elsewhere. I’ve always surmised that he HAD to leave Florida State after only one year and then the stories that we didn’t want to believe about his stint at Georgia sort of indicate a pattern of behavior. He’s often described as extremely arrogant, among other things.

We have people here who tell us that we can’t afford for him to fail, literally can’t afford it, and that’s probably not just about the money involved. They say that we have people at UT that are working behind the scenes to try to fix the things that became even more apparent last Saturday. But what if he tells Fulmer to FO? What if he tells Charlie Anderson to FO?

I'll see you guys later. I get too angry to stay on here when our players are getting trashed because of the failure of their head coach.
If Pruitt tells anybody to FO then sneak some cocaine in his house, tip off KPD... bing bang boom fire him without paying him a dime.

now all i can see is this guy, with Bass's voice i've never heard on a podcast that doesnt' exist...........

True story............I saw him a couple of years ago at this 90's music concert tour (Salt n Peppa, Coolio, etc) and he was ****ing terrible.

This came to me last night. The perfect illustration of what happened last Saturday was the scene in the Three Amigos, where they first encounter El Guapo and his gang and think it's a performance. They are out there "performing" thinking everything will be fine. One of them instructs El Guapo to tell the Amigos that they will die like dogs. Astonished, El Guapo lets them know that they will, indeed, die like dogs. He then has his sidekick shoot one of the Amigos in the arm. And the Amigos are flabbergasted, incredulous that the thug had the audacity to use a real bullet. They eventually realize that this is no performance, it is an actual confrontation. And they limp away as cowards.

I can't think of a much more accurate depiction of what happened last week. Until further notice, I will refer to our coach as Coach Gump. He's nothing more than that to me right now.

But we all know how the Three Amigos ended.......so that means we run the table

I thought my rap would be the worst part of VN this morning. Nope, as usual, its Kingston and Hank's hot takes
Bass, you almost had a conniption when I had the audacity to suggest it would be an uphill battle for Pruitt to win the East here.

Maybe you should practice a few hot takes as well - might get you closer to the wheelhouse of being right about something for once.

It's way too early in the Jeremy Pruitt era for this strange of a vibe around the program. It certainly doesn't feel right.

The current animosity from the local press, fractured team, departures, coach throwing players under the bus, low attendance etc... is the feel from a coach 3-4 years into a failing coaching stint.

This guy is only 13 games in and it feels like this
Actually I think it’s much better to go through this early on. It would be worse is if these problems were happening with a team 100% of players he recruited.

What would you rather believe, that your head coach lies to try to get his players to buy in, or that he can’t judge talent effectively enough to know that his team would get steamrolled by a bottom tier Sun Belt team?

Honestly, I don't care because I don't try to sit around and think up of 1000's of scenarios that could possibly be happening. That just makes the situation worse for the individually dreaming up said scenarios. Obviously the team and coaches need to do better this Saturday and if they lose then it's just going to get worse.

That’s a pretty good point.

If he gets through this it may ultimately be a good thing. Not losing to Georgia State - that’ll always suck. But the idea is valid.

I'm gonna go ahead and watch at least game 2 before going full Sigmund Freud or hiring the next coach.
But keep me posted.
This is where I'm at. Everything for me depends on how we play Saturday and how the coaching seems to be. If I see the same bs I saw last Saturday, I'll pretty much be checked out. Notice I didnt say if we win or not, but it will be how we play.

Realistically how many years do y'all think it'll take before we are back in Atlanta for the SEC Championship?

I'll say 5 minimum barring UGA death penalty

You didn't say it was an uphill battle. You said that it was highly unlikely that he would ever win the division before his first game of the second season. Ridiculous still. It is still possible that he turns things around. Talking about firing him now is stupid and extremely over reactionary. You're blaming everything on him and nothing on the players, and really acting arrogant and ridiculous this morning, as everyone can see.

Nobody has defended Pruitt since Saturday. nobody. But we also know that some of what we saw, as Swain, Fred White, and many other former players said, was effort. Want to. Guys quit. Is that on coaching? Yes, some. But not all. You can't make a guy give his all. You can stop playing him and I wonder if we see that going forward. But you can't defend the players as though they can't be held accountable. That's absurd.

And the next time you're right about something will be the first.

well yeah. we're still in shock from last week.

win this week, next week and you're at least back to being able to look at the rest of the schedule with a different light.

right now?

well, right now just sucks.

i think most of us, even in the general conversations we're having today about pruitt and his future etc...understand that it's just a scenario..........not predictions or things we "want" to happen.

anywho.

That's impossible to answer right now. After Saturday, it's hard to know where this team is. If we come out and blast BYU on Saturday, then maybe last week was a fluke. But doesn't feel that way right now. I think we have a lot farther to go than many of us, including myself, believed before the season. I thought we would have a chance to compete for the east in 2020. Not a chance. This roster needs to be completely rebuilt and at this point he has only put together one recruiting class. Next year we'll still be playing freshmen and sophomores all over the field because the upper class talent is very low.

And, after Saturday, we don't even know if Pruitt is a capable head coach yet. He has a lot to prove. And if this season goes the way it potentially could now and they fire him this year, that'll put us even further behind.
