I think having Bituli on the field at the same time as HT will help tremendously. HT was directing the D as a freshman. He started off looking fast but then started getting in his own head. I think HT co-pioliting the defense and being able to focus more on his own assignments will help him as he adjust.

That brings up the question, what the hell has Ignot and Reid learned over the last two years? They should be embarrassed that someone who showed up in June understands the defense better than them. Its unacceptable on both them and the coaches that they arent more prepared to lead the D.

Yeah, you are right about Bituli...freshman has to have some upperclassman help..that mixture is what makes great teams. Having someone that you under their wing...
Difficult for a freshman having to put the team on his shoulders alone.
If he thought this was something wait until SEC play starts.....
Believe me the Henry T is going to need some help big time

1) it tells me they don’t think this team is any good - and they think the team is too fragile to know the truth. So they tried to coddle them as much as possible.

2) makes the Ga State game a little bit easier to understand. They played conservative as hell because they knew it would be close. Then we wilted mentally and Ga State felt it and took the momentum.
either way. it's a big turnaround from what we were being told two weeks ago.

personally, if they were that concerned about some of the guys being problems, i would have thought more effort would have been put in to weeding them out before the season starts.

idk....but safe to say i know none of this is what we were expecting.

they really need to win Saturday night, and despite my really confident pick in the pregame/game thread, i think it's going to be really hard to see a team pull together and figure it out in a week's time, if they couldn't do it in a full off season.

Yeah, everything has been bass ackwards.

But at least we got some truth from him yesterday. How quickly the narrative went from “I really like this team and we’re all bought in” to “there’s no one on the defense to be scared of” and “there are some players who have quit and need to get out of our way.”

I just don’t see the point in basically saying publicly that no one on your team is very good. Which is basically what saying no one on our defense scares anyone is saying.

He’s feeling the heat and separating himself from the roster.

“This ain’t my fault. Look at these bums!”

It’s the same thing he did with the “we’ll get 25 in here that play the right way” comment last year and we know how that team finished the year.

Exactly. Which is stupid. As a coach you should always take 10000% of the blame. People aren’t stupid. They know if the players just aren’t good enough to win and wouldn’t actually blame it on you anyway. The problem is they showed that they are good enough to beat good teams at home and on the road. He just doesn’t get it out of them.

It is amazing how Pruitt’s entire tone has changed.

Remember before the season how pumped up he had everyone by saying how much he liked this team. Loved their attitude. Loved their effort.

He had this confidence.

Now, one game later, he is crapping all over them. Which I don’t mind at all. They need it and some need to leave if they don’t want to do things the right way.

But his confidence is gone.

Could he not tell? Was he faking it to try and get them to believe?

He said the same thing Monday

He’s clearly being told by someone what the fans want to here imo

Things i want to see vs BYU

-more creativity in the run game. Unbalanced lines, counters, touch passes/jet sweeps. Maybe some quick speed options. Also use the passing game as an extension. Need more screens to slow pass rush down and help OL

-split back formation with grey and chandler on the field at the same time. Would also like to see Ty in the slot some.

-at least 5 shots downfield idc idc they are competed or not but we have to keep them from sitting underneath and clogging the box.

-don’t take out Henry T. Ever.

-bring more pressure through the middle. Don’t rely on slow developing corner blitz
JG says bet....he's tossing them shi*s out of bounds where no one can catch them.

But Jeremy isn’t frantic
Intern jones was sycophantic

Guys just need to show some heart
Step up and do their part

Make the Mormons shed some tears”

Totally forgot about this last year. VT came into the game 2-0. Old Dominion came in 0-3. VT loses by double digit and looked completely lost on defense as we did Saturday. VT finished the regular season 6-6 and but ended up losing in a bowl game.

which is fine.

but two weeks ago it was "we got a positive vibe right now, i like this football team".

Just goes to show you can’t trust anything that comes out of the UTAD from admin to coaches to players. Everything is eye test only and we saw the truth on Saturday.
