Don't think he's saying it's a test where "fail" is losing, only that scoring 14-24 would show a lack of progress. Though a 1 game test is sort of silly, when you're paying someone $1.5m, immediate results are usually expected.

In short, a poor headline for sure, but not an unreasonable point.

Yep - as we’ve proven, our offensive line did not push the weaker teams around like it should have. If that happens again tomorrow it’s a bad sign.

I have lots of faith in my Friend. His Y1s are not much, but Y2 and on are excellent series of progress. If he doesn't do it here too, it would be a definite anomaly (and so UT). Not expecting that. Expect the Friend effect, with the Trey Smith and 2 5*s effect to begin to take shape tomorrow.

I somewhat agree with your thinking (makes a lot of sense) but I just want to beat the sh!t out of them.

I lean that way too.

But to your point - and the point of the article - it is a “test” for Chaney just to simply see how much we’ve improved.

We’ve looked like ass vs. these small teams the last two years. We haven’t been able to push them around and our players very obviously haven’t taken these games seriously. That needs to change tomorrow.
