'20 GA ATH Arik Gilbert (LSU commit)

I would love to get Gilbert on board here. Do whatever it takes to get him in and sell him the idea of a hybrid TE/WR.

If he wants a legit shot in the NFL, he's gonna have to learn how to block and be good at it.

Rob Gronkowksi would be a good type of player to model his game after. Excellent route running, good hands and adequate blocker.

Think he is too big to be a Jimmy Graham type of player, which seems to be what he wants to do.

This class is slowly coming together nicely. I like it.
According to 247 Gilbert is 2 inches shorter and 10-15lbs lighter than Graham. We’ll see how he develops, but I definitely think he has that toolset. He’s fast for his size, good route runner, and insane ball skills. Feel like DW, at 6’7.5” has more Gronk-y potential. Both dudes are program changers, but Gilbert definitely seems like the more natural WR flex.

He's way closer to Jimmy Graham size than gronk. Probably smaller than Graham. And closer to Graham in style. Probably who he should model his game after. He's not gronk.

Actually, he's closer to Calvin Johnson imo.

He's a guy with the ability to get faster. Which at his size is rare.

Calvin Johnson was 6'5 220 coming into GA Tech and ran 4.6

He left Ga Tech 6'5 235 running 4.36 but it was his athleticism that set him apart. He was lite on his feet. So is Gilbert.

Gilbert has that Kearse, Megatron, Clowney, Taylor Mays rare body type. Genetics...

He could probably play Safety

He is still young and has a year left in HS on top of 2-3 years in college. He has the frame to bulk up quite a bit. Gronk size in HS 6'5 and 235 and Gilbert size is 6'6 at 253 per 247 sports. Not sure how accurate that is. He's definitely more athletic and faster than Gronk but not as strong.

Jimmy Graham is an athletic freak at 6'7. He was a perfect fit for that Saints offense with Brees at his position. He was just on another level then.

In what world is Gronk considered just an "adequate blocker"?

Went to Marietta last week for practice

Saw them at the Corky Kell luncheon on Tuesday. Called their game last night against Rome

I really do feel an Alabama vibe here right now for Arik Gilbert. Spoke with a lot of people and definitely think Tennessee is in this serious as well. But I get paid to give my thoughts as of today and what I have heard around this last few days, Alabama is in a good spot with likely a decision coming during the season.

He did confirm that he will OV to UGA for ND game this week. I would imagine that Tennessee may get an OV for the UGA game a few weeks later.

If Alabama still is where I think they are right now, I think a decision could come in early October after those visits. He does not want to drag this out.

Kid looked like Gronk last night lined up at WR in a 6-5, 250 pound body on the edge.. He never played a snap with hand down, his mind is at WR and they all would take him at that. Just a different dude

Demetric Warren with CB to UT!

GT has had the same number (5) of WR drafted into the NFL as TN has since 2007 (the year Calvin Johnson was drafted). Calvin Johnson & Demaryius Thomas have had more NFL success than any TN WR has had for a long time.
Dude, welcome back!! Haven’t seen you in a while.

Georgia Tech will probably never be a consistent playoff contender because of the academic standards but Collins will have that team consistently in the 8-9 win range every year with a team that could win the ACC every few years or so. They’re in too good of a talent hotbed for some kids to not start staying home. Only thing that will hold them back from that next level is the academic standards and the fact that their university doesn’t put anywhere near the emphasis on athletics that UGA/Clemson/etc do

Evan Ingram skill set with Colt Lyerla type athleticism. I just hope if the good guys are able to pull him in he plays with that Lyerla type mentality on the field
