Andrew Luck retiring

I wonder if the concussion (or concussions) are the biggest contributor to this decision. The part about him being mentally worn down is concerning and might be related to a brain injury. I hope that’s not the case.

Here's a solid theory.

Luck takes a year off (to rest and get healthy) then he signs a FA deal with the Patriots to take over for Tom Brady.

Colts get to replace a future HOFer with another franchise QB...again. This is a worst case situation for Titans by increasing likelihood that Marcus will get a new contract thereby taking them out of contention to upgrade QB in the 2020 class and the impending Hunter Johnson sweepstakes.

There's no guarantee the Colts are going to fall into another Luck situation. Their super bowl window just slammed shut, but the roster is a lot better than it was in 2011 or 2017.

As for us, I'm becoming increasingly convinced that this is Mariota's final year with the Titans. Mike Vrabel and Jon Robinson did not draft him, and he has played like hot garbage for 2 years and hasn't looked any better this preseason. I think they will ultimately sign Tannehill to a 2-3 year extension and draft someone in '20 or '21, but I don't see them tanking. The team is too talented.

Don’t watch as much as I used to, but from what I know Brissett will do fine. Ballard upgraded the roster big time plus they no longer owe Luck all that money. They have talent to go 9-7 ish
They went 4-12 with Brissett in 2017

That is true but this team has way more talent. O line was considered among the worst and d was terrible. Now o line considered top 5 at d top 12 ish. Listen this team isn’t going 13-3 and winning a SB but they will compete and win some games. Plus look at this division, there aren’t any great teams so every game there will be winnable

Can't believe the fans booed him. They were all business when they kicked Peyton to the curb (and I don't fault them at all for that) and now they wanna play victim. Colts fans are so obnoxious.

I don’t blame them at all. 2 weeks before the season starts and he quits. He quit because he’s tired? 25 mil per year, he’s 29 years old and he plays a game for a living. I don’t want to hear him whine about being tired. The shoulder injury was all his own fault according to local reporters and this current injury when did it happen and how? He was just fine walking off field in KC and played in the pro bowl.

I'm not surprised at all that you side with these entitled fans ; )

Nobody knows what he's going through or what he's been through. Stay classy, Indy

I know a good bit of what he’s been through is self inflicted. He’s mentally soft and very selfish. I know no one will ever say it but I bet some in their locker room are glad the soap opera that was Andrew Luck is over

Colts fans should be ecstatic to be rid of him then. They're not, because ^ this is grade A BS. He played 2 seasons with a jacked up shoulder before having surgery. Couch potatos calling professional football players soft is one of my favorite moves.

Many members of the media from there are come out and said Luck didn’t love the game he was not the worker Peyton, Brees etc are. As a casual fan who doesn’t pay attention like I used to at this point I’m glad he’s gone.

Side note have you ever disagreed with what any professional athlete has ever done?

To me a guy who quits on his team 2 weeks before the season starts is a punk b****

How do you know he wasn't asked to wait?
How do you know the medical staff wasn't pressuring him to play when his body wasn't ready

I'm just saying that no team in the league would be better off with Andrew Luck walking out their door if he was the starter. No backup is better than him. Maybe 5 actual starters are. Maybe.

Sounds like his body was fine, it’s in his head.
No evidence to suggest he was asked to wait. Why would the organization want him to wait? Makes no sense. They could have got Foles in FA or drafted someone

To rip off the paying customer, just like in 2017 when the drugged out owner said he wouldn't miss any games, only to put him on IR at the beginning of the season.

They put garbage around Luck for years and got him destroyed. Funny how people are quick to blame players, but refuse to hold ownership accountable.

One gives body and soul to the team and the other figures out how to milk money from the customers.

Really? The math is easy on this one. They wanted to sell season tickets.

That went 180 quick. He’s terrible for leaving, but we are all glad he left.

That person who “gave their body and soul” was also making 25 plus million a year
