Bear with me.....

As much as I hate to say this I actually completely agree with Saban. Some mistakes need punishment but stuff like Bryce Thompson where no one gets hurt and he says some dumb ****. I mean come on these are kids not grown ass men. Giving them a second chance can actually make a world of difference for their lives.

Well, it's actually a genius idea. Celebrating with the team on the sideline = less likely to be a penalty.

Celebrating on the field spontaneously alone or with the team = more likely to be a penalty. So if you create a prop that pulls the team off the field quickly to celebrate a big play it's less likely to end up costing you penalty yardage.

Yea it does keep penalties from happening but I dont recall many celebration penalties at all unless a TD is scored. Either way I agree overall with your point

Any clue when we'll "know" our starting lineup?

My OL prediction keeps shifting...at this point I think they might have zero freshmen start, and slowly work them in.

LT - Jahmir Johnson
LG - Trey Smith
C - Brandon Kennedy
RG - Calbert
RT - Tatum

Next up:
G - Ryan Johnson & Jerome Carvin
T - Morris & Wright

That's my prediction too. And as far as the Friend statement about having 8-10 play, I think that's more about limiting Trey's reps, so they'll try a few different combinations when Trey's not in there. I think they may try to sit Trey every 3rd or 4th drive. Maybe sometimes Wayna comes in at tackle and JJ slides to guard and the next time JJ stays at tackle and Carvin/Ryan comes in at guard. Or try Wanya at guard.

I want Bryce Thompson on the team, guy is so talented. However, when the season is just about to start, why would you put yourself in a situation like this? I know he is young but has he not been listening to all these speakers? Does he not know he has NFL potential if he just does his job and balls? It's straight up stupidity and I don't have time for it. He potentially is letting his team, his family and himself down. I don't care if he just simply got in an argument with his fiancee, you don't lose your cool the WEEK BEFORE THE FIRST GAME. Suspension is getting off lucky. No one player is above the team and this is the kind of crap that screws with team goals. I'm not going to lament his loss and complain that he should be playing against BYU and Florida. Just disappointing.
How is he supposed to avoid an argument with his fiance on a random night? It's easy to say "just walk away" but couples dont walk away because it's game week. It was an argument on him cheating or not. It's not like he drove drunk or fought some other person at a bar.

I’m not arguing the harmlessness of it. I mean what has the University and police departments, shoot maybe even the TBI, done to make you think this will be swift????

IMO what he’s been through is punitive enough.
Why wouldn't it be swift? He got in an argument and said some things he shouldn't have and broke a gate. I know what you're getting at with the justice system being slow, especially in Knoxville, but there's really not much here to investigate. Should be pretty simple and easy to handle from all parties involved. It's only a big deal at the moment because of social media, the world we live in now full of snowflakes and drama queens and douchebags. This will blow over pretty quickly and be handled internally, as it should.

Yea i mean there’s no avoiding it. Women are crazy (as are men). Just don’t see why you have to make a threat about shooting up the school.

You've never been pushed to a breaking point and then immediately regretted it?

Nahh, he's never been in his late teens and early twenties, testosterone flowing, had alcohol, and had a conflict with a female... he's above all that... special. But I DO AGREE that Thompson was stupid to let this play out a week before the season, very immature and stupid... but we are all stupid to assume all kids from all walks of life have been guided by their family and peers throughout their lives to act the right way in every situation. He just straight F'd up. Hopefully he learns and it doesn't play out too negatively to affect his career moving forward.

I was married to a stripper, she stabbed me once, had the cops out a few times so yeah I know a bit about it.

I also wasn't a freshman All American about to start the season. He has a bit more on the line than I did. As Uncle Ben would say "great power..."
Are you serious? There is soooo much to unpack here

didn't say walk away, but don't get to the point that cops are called. there is no way to spin this as an inevitable outcome. he screwed up, just want him to know it and remember it going forward. actions have consequences.

You can’t ignore the distruction of property. If he didn’t say the shoot up the school part that’s clearly the only real issue but certainly needed to be avoided

Not really. I was young and stupid, she was very attractive. I thought I would be the white knight that would save her from that profession. She was crazy as hell and loved the money more than me it turned out. One drunken night she tried to slit her wrists with a butcher knife in our kitchen. I tried to take it from her, she stabbed me in the arm. Eventually I got out of that situation, matured and now have it all pretty much figured out.
