Chizik was asked who among the 2nd year coaches in the SEC (UF. A&M, TN, MSU, OM, ARK) who would have the best season?
Chizik says Tennessee. Expects Pruitt to have a big year.
Still think 8-4 is the Floor...

Given the schedule 11-1 would be great, 10-2 would be impressive, and 9-3 would be Pruitt beating every team hes supposed to beat.8-4 is possible but saying it's "the floor" is a big stretch.
The floor is that JG gets injured early, the O-line continues to struggle through the first half of the season, the D-line holds the D back and we go 5-7. That's a disaster scenario, sure, but that's "the floor."
Given the schedule, 7-5 would be impressive. 8-4 would be great.
5-7 is the floor again. 8-4 is not the ceiling, it’s the rafters in the attic, perhaps the shingles on the roof.Chizik was asked who among the 2nd year coaches in the SEC (UF. A&M, TN, MSU, OM, ARK) who would have the best season?

Agree on the 5-7 scenario. 7-5 is where I think we end up. 8-4 would be sweet. Like 5-7 but the opposite, 9-3 would take something out of the ordinary. I don't think we see 9, but I do think that is our "rafters or perhaps shingles on the roof" ceiling.8-4 is possible but saying it's "the floor" is a big stretch.

Perhaps rethink how you stated your premise. I get the rationale in part, but when did you think that Solomon would vs. would not be granted his waiver, or that Trey was or was not certain to play? The jury remains out on both. Nevertheless, don’t give way to doubt on UT with or without those two proven players. Younger players may emerge proven in the year. Even without Gooden, Solomon and Smith, I think Chizik is still making a reasonably calculated prediction.I might have thought that before Gooden's injury...or the probability that Solomon won't be granted his waiver...or with Trey playing for a while being an uncertainty. I think the floor is lower now.

Should be a celebration of a good year, there is NO reason why this team isn’t going to a decent bowl. UT fans enjoyed the 9-4 teams, it was only 3 years ago. Pruitt told a recruit if they weren’t 9-3, that he shouldn’t come to UT bc the coaches weren’t doing their jobs. I’d expect 10 next year. This is a great thread to bring out the negs.
Keep it going boys!
