Also Dobbs lit it up as a junior AND senior and got drafted to be a back up. You guys really think even if JG has a decent year he thinks he can leave after that ONE good year and get drafted? Maybe into the XFL. MAYBE. Would be ridiculous to leave after this year regardless of stats.
I don't disagree really but Dobbs was never as accurate or had as much arm talent as JG. Those are 2 things the NFL values a lot. Possibly overvalues. I personally think JG will have a good year and be back next year. But I don't think it's out of the question for him to get drafted if he has a good year. I don't think he would transfer though.

Couple things from VQ podcast today...

Question was asked how many does UT land...Washington, Gilbert, Sewell and Smalls? Simonton and Price both said at least 1. Price said "100% one and 50% two. Niedermeyer won't strikeout"

They were asked O/U 20 TD passes by JG? All picked the over. Hubbs also shared a stat that everywhere Chaney has been since getting back into CFB after NFL days every single QB he's had has thrown for 20+ TD's in year 1 with him, except for the kid at Ark.

When was the last time a UT qb came out as a junior? Shuler? And everyone blasted it saying he came out too early...and they were right. QBs rarely come out after their junior years for a good reason and JG certainly isn't good enough to break that mold.

I think Bailey is pretty good but people figuring he comes in and starts day one - or people who would want that to be the case - are missing the mark a little in my opinion.
My mark is always the best QB playing. Never miss wanting that.

Don't you tell me what not to do. Jk I know what you meant. As far as never being developed properly, I think Helton did a horrible job calling plays last year. But I do think he did a decent job developing JG. Just didn't put him in good situations in games with his play calling.

Yeah I was definitely impressed with his development of JG. Dropped from an insane 5 sacks/game (vs backhalf of the schedule) down to just ~2. Had better presence, was much more comfortable, etc. I think he broke a school record for passes without an interception.

Did you guys listen to the RTI “PODCAST” today? It was pretty good. Discussed Banks and that they thought he probably has a goal line package and since he knows the offense and sort of knows the defense the transition makes sense to try and get him some playing time.

You don't watch the NFL or pay attention to the draft much do you? Last year 11 QBs were taken in what most said was one of the weakest classes in recent history.

A few head scratching picks, Ryan Finley, Easton Stick, Clayton Thorson, Gardner Minshew. Now will JG make it in the NFL? Who knows, but I think a winning season or two and good numbers gets him drafted at least.
Gardner Minshew was a Heisman candidate who balled...wasn’t that puzzling.

I think what a lot of people are missing is, I can have a good/great season and become a millionaire (or at the very least start making six figures) OR I can return and potentially injury myself playing for free for a 5th year at the same place?

It's mostly up in the air, my only point is the NFL doesn't look at things the same most fans do. His NFL stock is a lot higher than people realize because he's got great size, speed, good football IQ, was very highly rated coming outta HS, has shown toughness both mentally and physically now on his 3rd OC in as many years and his 2nd HC.

I can list a ton of QBs with lesser accolades who after a single good/great season not only went to the NFL but got drafted, but it's all pointless. Only point is that it is a possibility this is JG's last season at UT.

The Air Raid QBs rarely get drafted, regardless of their video game numbers though. If anything him being drafted points to how bad last year's class was and yet 11 QBs were drafted. Not to mention the number who got contracts to camp.
