I mean, JT, Hill, Brian all here -this- year. If JG stays healthy then Brian gets his RS and next season you'll have (hopefully) 4 QBs all returning and wanting to earn snaps AND a highly rated incoming.

Let's be honest....anyone thinking we start Fall camp -next- year with 5 QBs on scholarship is the real pipe smokers. To me the ideal situation is JG balls out, tossed about 3k and 25 TDs and gets drafted, which make no mistake he will get drafted if he pulls those numbers in the SEC and wins 7+ games.

Then you'll have an open competition going into Spring with 4 scholarship QBs, 2 of which will be "upper" classman in JT & Hill (both as RS So).
Best case scenario is JG balls out and stays so we have a senior QB going into our make it or break it year.

If that means we lose one of Shrout or Maurer then so be it.

Also I’m not sure why we’re factoring Hill into these discussions at all at this moment. He’s a walk on and may never gain a scholarship. We’re taking a flyer on a kid and letting him rehab on our dime in order to create good-will with his high school.

Hill has to sit out this year and will be a redshirt junior next year but I don't disagree with what yer saying.

Yeah wasn't sure his exact class. Either way, the talent level in that QB room is pretty freaking impressive.

To add another point, if the speed gains that have been reported are accurate that'll help JG as well. I can't recall who originally reported it, but something like 15 or so 4.4 guys now, compared to like 3 last year. Honestly if you're a legit low 4.5s WR you're already NFL caliber, it's one of the few positions where you don't have to be a real burner to be elite.

Antonio Brown 4.47
A.J. Green 4.5
Julio Jones 4.39
DeAndre Hopkins 4.41
Mike Evans 4.53
JuJu Smith-Schuster 4.54
Michael Thomas 4.55
Davante Adams 4.56

Makes Thailand seem normal (cobras and all), no?

I get to go home for 12 days next week, but it’s kind of just sad. Reminds me of where I cannot be for the time being and all I’m leaving behind for the next year. Really not looking forward to it.

At least I’m bringing a friend with me. I’d hate to be there in my own during this

Honestly don't do the predictions on numbers but everything else is so true. He's got some issues and some of his numbers were padded by our bigger receivers winning out. But he's also not been horrible. Doesn't seem to have that sense for pressure but slower receivers and no blocking is a tuuurible combination.

Given he grew up with our revolving coordinators and truly bad OL...

Well, I just think if he had been developed properly at any point, and played behind a mediocre line, things would be looked at differently.Truth really is always somewhere in the middle. My curiosity about what we'll see with Chaney is off the charts.
Don't you tell me what not to do. Jk I know what you meant. As far as never being developed properly, I think Helton did a horrible job calling plays last year. But I do think he did a decent job developing JG. Just didn't put him in good situations in games with his play calling.

LOL what a terrible take on Hill. A walk-on who was higher rated than both JT & Maurer coming outta HS. He was the #10 rated pro-style QB coming out of HS, a 4 star with a 0.9110 composite. He played for a trash Maryland team and blew his ACL with 2 games left last year. JG leaves for the draft don't be shocked at all if Hill is in the discussion to win the starting job next year.

I think Bailey is pretty good but people figuring he comes in and starts day one - or people who would want that to be the case - are missing the mark a little in my opinion.

I remember a study done a few years ago about phenom QBs. Basically, you know right away and they should start right away or at least few games into the season.

I see no problem throwing him to the wolves. We will be starting fresh with a lot of new playmakers in 2020 anyway. Hopefully our line will have gelled and he has at least the protection that JG will have NEVER had in four years.

Pruitt era starts with HB IMO.

It’s interesting that the still maintains that he is innocent. They still never linked him to any of the children. Does make you wonder. Usually these guys talk eventually except for EARONS
I know I am way behind...but I remember my Dad talking about this when they convicted him. He said they convicted him of murder with evidence from kids he wasn't charges with (Or I think that is what he said). The weirdest thing back then was every night the Atlanta channels would come on with like an emergency message and say, "it's 11:00 do you know where your children are?" I was young but I have never forgotten it. Funny thing, my daughter went tubing down the Chattahoochee last week and first thing I thought of was the Atlanta Child Murders.

I like Hill. I think he’s probably pretty good. But I watched him a lot at Maryland (family went to Maryland) and he never looked special to me. Never really had any flashes.

Two full knee surgeries later, and I’m not sure he’ll ever be what his ceiling might have been before them.

Anyway, I’m all for bringing him in and giving him a scholarship if he looks good and earns it. I’m just not betting on it.

Also, anyone else kinda excited to see Braden Collins walk-on? He burned his RS at App. State, and he may never earn a scholarship but he's a local Farragut product with good size. I like having local kids on the team as much as possible.

I think what it does more than anything is allows the 2020 class to just focus on Bailey, and that's honestly what I love the most about it. I also feel like leaving Maryland (on scholarship) to walk-on for UT is a statement. He could have stayed closer to home and found a lower tier school pretty easily and gotten a full ride.

I don't think Hill will ever play here. But having an experienced guy like that walk on here is definitely a good thing. I'm also not penciling in Bailey as the starter when he gets here even if JG leaves. I think he will compete but Shrout and Mauer will probably fight it out for starter next year if JG does leave.

Maybe so. I don’t follow recruiting like I used to but I guess in my head I don’t see Bailey as a “phenom.” Really good high school QB and I’m happy to have him, but it doesn’t feel like the hype is the same it was for guys like Tua and Lawrence. Everyone thought they were NFL QB’s at 17. But maybe I’m just missing the mark.

Either way, I still think the best case scenario is JG plays really well the next two years, Shrout, Maurer or Hill solidify the backup spot in 2020, and Bailey redshirts.

Yes, I'm curious.

I think that last part might be true - but he prioritized medical rehab over playing time. It’s why it took him so long to find a spot.

Welp, Bama just picked up their 2nd RB in this cycle. Think it's safe to say they're out on Evans. Sucks that its looking like UGA gets 2 top backs in the same class.

With HB being an EE, if JG leaves, the starting QB job will be something fun to watch unfold. My money is on HB but if one of the other guys wins the job, he'll have definitely earned it. Looking forward to seeing Shrout and Maurer play some this fall.

I believe you're right. Although, sometimes theres exceptions. Urban Meyer did wonders with Chris Leak. Maybe Cheney could have the same impact with JG.

Phenom was probably a poor choice. I guess a mean a guy that has “it.” All indications says HB has it.

Looks good on paper for UGA but I'm not as worried as I was at this point last year. I think the wheels will fall off sooner than later. I honestly think Kirby isn't as competent of a head coach as many believe.
