Hahaha nice. I had a beeper. Didn't get a phone til like 2000. Also, see it's possible to exceed expectations. We just haven't done it in a long time. Doesn't mean we won't though.Yes, everyone thought that UT would take a big step back. Because UT lost their most talented players on offense and defense in Manning and Little. Most predicted 7-4 or 8-3 at best. But, everyone knew that if they could beat Florida at home they had a chance for a great season.
And I didn’t have a beeper, just flip phone that only made calls. Hahahahaha.
The hype train down at UF is getting unreal.
To be fair the NFL draft isn't what I'd consider the best place to gauge talent, in fact it might be worse than the star rankings for HS recruits honestly. Majority of 3 star or higher kids seem to do well at a higher % than the 2 star or below.
Obviously everyone knows about Tom Brady and him in the 6th round, but what most people fail to also discuss is the amount of early rounders that don't do anything. It's not just "finding" the gem in the late rounds, but also how many "sure things" are actual misses in the early rounds.
I say all this to say Ty Chandler may not go in the first 3 rounds, but he could have a Curtis Martin type career and his legacy would be quite different.
I don't think his point about the draft was right necessarily. But I do think there are a lot of players that aren't really NFL players for a number of reasons, that are elite college players. They are different games. Sometimes players are suited for both and sometimes they're suited for one or the other.Yea i mean it’s by no means a sure way to gauge. But if you’re a dynamic and productive playmaker in college, you’re usually going to get drafted fairly high for the most part. Sometimes you don’t even have to be that productive.
And that's with my dude Albright being criminally underrated.22nd in 247 rankings with the least amount of commits at 14 right now.
Still in for a few borderline 4/5 star prospects. Add in Rak, McDaniel, Sewell, Whitehead, one of Gilbert/Washington and a few instate DL and we will be on our way to a top 10 class.
If we win 8-9 this year? We push for a top 5 class. Exciting times.
