Tee Martin was not that good. He had a nice TD/INT ratio in 1998 and had a great game against a bad USC team. He could also run. But make no mistake about it, that defense in 1998 won the National Title.

I agree It was a team effort. But, every time UT needed a play on offense, Tee Martin was there to make it!! He was a phenomenal in the clutch, not always so good every down but he was certainly a playmaker for the Vols in 1998.

If the Vols has a QB like him, I would be so excited about this season.

This team will go as far as JG will take them. He must become a playmaker for the Vols this season instead of a caretaker!!

I don't blame Hurd for that. The business of stopping in the backfield for a full second while the quarterback decides whether to hand it off or not was the cause for Hurd to be caught in the backfield most of the time.
Yep, if Hurd was taking handoffs from a qb under center instead of shotgun all the time, even in single back without a fullback, he would've been even better than he was. And people who act like he wasn't good are fooling themselves. I don't like that he just quit on his teammates but I certainly understand it, and it seems like it's gonna turn out to be a very good decision for him career wise.

Then why have you already penciled in 7 losses for us? Seems like you are the opposite of undefeated in the preseason.

I don’t have any loses penciled in for this team.

I just want 6 wins and a bowl game, preferably in Florida with a win over Vanderbilt.

7 wins would be fantastic, and 8 would be tremendous!

Facts.

Tee's stats in 1998:
57.3% 2164 passing yards 19 TDs 6 INTs 287 rushing yards 7 TDs

Tee's legacy exist mainly because he was the QB of a championship team.

Did you even watch the Auburn game last year?....

Okay, this is worst case scenario. Think of the best case scenario. What happens is usually somewhere in between.

Ha ha - well, I agreed with this thinking six or seven years ago, but most seasons since then have trended towards my worst case scenario or blown right past it. Didn't see 2011, 2012 or 2016 coming. Didn't see 2017 coming. Had suspicions 2018 would be a tough slog, but I lied to myself and believed Butch recruited better than he did so I didn't see blowout losses to Mizzou and Vandy coming. This year, I'm lapping up all the warnings that are coming in from those closest to the team, and they all consistently say the lines of scrimmage will be the weak link. I've decided this year I'll believe them and set my expectations around 6 wins. But I'm bullish on the future! Don't get me wrong!

I'll gladly take 4.5 YPC & 8 rushing TDs a year while catching 20+ a season with a 7.3 a catch average from a RB again in a heartbeat.

Hurd probably should have played for Vanderbilt and enjoyed getting to run in a scheme that allowed Ralph Webb to eclipse 4100 in his career.

I'm missing someone. I read that UF is down 6 people from 2019. Who's the 6th? I thought it was Wardrick Wilson, the OL, but according to his twitter he qualified and is all gators.

2018 Malik Langham SDE, transferred to Vanderbilt (.8975 composite)
2018 Noah Banks OT, medical retire (.8871 composite)
2018 Johnny Huggins safety, dismissed (.8858 composite)

2019 Chris Steele, CB, transferred to USC (.9782 composite)
2019 Arjei Henderson WR, JUCO (.9395 composite)
2019 Diwan Black, ILB, JUCO (.9356 composite)
2019 Deyavie Hammond, OL, JUCO (.9104 composite)
2019 Jalon Jones, QB, dismissed (.9001 composite)

Additionally
2018 4 star WR Jacob Copeland missed almost all of 2018 with hamstring injuries
2018 4 star OLB David Reese to miss 2019 with a torn achilles
2019 4 star CB Jaydon Hill is coming off a torn ACL

Suffered through the VQ Podcast for yall and here are the highlights;

Nothing. It was quite boring. Only interesting note was that Pruitt himself got involved in the BJ race to get us back in it.

I personally believe that Steve Young was the best NFL QB. Dude was slippery than a slip and slide. Literally got stuck on a video of him juking out the whole nfl. Did not know dude had wheels.

Yeah, just say 6 is the cake, and any more are icing.

Man, see if you can find his BYU footage.

I remember watching him open field tackle Deion Sanders after an INT one game. It was awesome.

Hurd was an elite back. I’m not taking anything away from him

Agreed. Had he not quit in 2016 the Vols probably beat Vanderbilt and play in the Sugar Bowl. He was really close to would being the leading rusher in UT history. He was a playmaker and a difference maker for the Vols.
