Shrout was the clear backup coming out of spring. Still wonder why they didn't use four games to get him some game experience last year. That could be our biggest pain point.
I believe they wanted to get him in some games towards the end of the season (in case of injury to JG or Chryst) and couldn’t find a game we dominated clearly enough.

It literally took 3 lucky bounces for Georgia to beat us last year
That game wasn’t competitive. We showed some flashes late but even if we get 3TOs, they win that game. We got some players but we need more depth. Hoping for a healthy season.

A huge amount of the 2019 class already looking great. This is why I don't worry when we take a 3* with Pruitt at the helm.
I mean seriously. I know it’s preseason camp but Burrell possibly starting. And if not he’s gonna play a lot as a freshman. Simmons making noise. Harrison was a nobody until Pruitt discovered him. This dude knows what a football player looks like.

Eric Gray reminds me a lot of Alvin K when it comes to his speed and elusiveness. Kid will be a game changer IMO for our offense. Every time he gets the ball you get the sense he could do something special. I think JT is our best option at back up qb based on what I have seen but I certainly don’t believe we want to see either him or Maurer in a game situation. There is definitive size difference on the O line with the addition of Wanya and DW...I believe our qb will actually have time to throw the ball this season which is exciting considering what we have had to watch the last few years. JG looks decent with his accuracy but I think Chaney will finally take advantage of his speed and elusiveness and let him run this year which he could be lethal with.
All that said we clearly are going to have some depth issues on both lines this year...We need another good recruiting cycle to truly be able to address the depth concerns on the lines of scrimmage.
The future is bright...the size difference in this years team compared to last is noticeable especially when standing next to them.
I see somewhere between a 7 and 9 win team here and I see the building blocks truly in place for a great future.

Last night I was catching up on the the DVR...this right here from "Hard Knocks" on HBO is the way I feel about our Tennessee Vols and every team we play.

"Everybody right now has dreams, don't they guys?" Gruden tells his players in the opening scene of Tuesday's premiere. "Everybody in the NFL have a dream of making it in the NFL. 'I gotta dream of winning a Super Bowl.' 'I gotta dream of being in the Pro Bowl.' I'm really not into dreams anymore, OK? I'm into f----- nightmares. You gotta end somebody's dream. You gotta take their job. You gotta take their heart. Are you guys clear about this NFL s--- now?" ~Jon Gruden

Exactly. I get BVS and what-not, but Pruitt isn't a salesman. He's a football coach that has proven he can find and develop talent. I'm stoked for this upcoming year because I truly believe we have a good year (7-8 wins) while also showing that we are no longer a team that can be pushed around. I think we compete in every game this year.

Also, the more I see of what's coming out of UF the more I see that game as a win. My meter for that game was a definite L this past spring, but it is now at a 50-50 with the only large problem being that it's in Gainesville. Everything else seems to be spiraling out of control.

i think of the "big 3", FL is probably the one that would be considered the best chances to win.

and while they are having issues....their front 7 will still be good. they have NFL talent on the DL and at LB. so while i wouldn't say this UF D is as we've seen over the past 4-5 years, it will still be big test for our unproven offense.

if we can handle the front 7, then you do have to like the match ups outside with our TE's and WR's and backs out of the back field against their back 4 or 5.

defensively, they are breaking in basically a brand new O line. and we're breaking in basically a brand new front 7. which of those groups gets there faster?

i think that game is more interesting than it was a month ago. i'm not ready to call for an upset yet. certainly on the table.
