So close to football time...watching a little NFL preseason, and playing Madden 20 to get myself in full HYPE mode.
I am pretty hopeful we can come out strong, would love to see us 3-0 going into the Swamp.
It literally took 3 lucky bounces for Georgia to beat us last yearI was watching the Auburn-Georgia from last year, and it struck me that during the first half, Auburn took it to Georgia. I couldn't help thinking, "Man, our guys beat one of these teams, and hung in with the other one."
I don't know if our "new coach jump" comes this year, but if it doesn't, next year looks like a good year to make some noise.
These past few weeks have been dragging. I’ve been watching highlights of our opponents. For better or worse 3-0 is a foregone conclusion for me, and I saw some of the ducks Tommy Steven threw in his highlights at Penn St. So I’m already licking my lips for that Miss St. game. I’m sure the disappointment will be glorious. So close to football time...watching a little NFL preseason, and playing Madden 20 to get myself in full HYPE mode.

Just as long as you understand that if we win 6 or less, your haters will crawl out of the woodwork and say that you guaranteed a nine win season. Anyway, I much appreciate the info.Eric Gray reminds me a lot of Alvin K when it comes to his speed and elusiveness. Kid will be a game changer IMO for our offense. Every time he gets the ball you get the sense he could do something special. I think JT is our best option at back up qb based on what I have seen but I certainly don’t believe we want to see either him or Maurer in a game situation. There is definitive size difference on the O line with the addition of Wanya and DW...I believe our qb will actually have time to throw the ball this season which is exciting considering what we have had to watch the last few years. JG looks decent with his accuracy but I think Chaney will finally take advantage of his speed and elusiveness and let him run this year which he could be lethal with.
All that said we clearly are going to have some depth issues on both lines this year...We need another good recruiting cycle to truly be able to address the depth concerns on the lines of scrimmage.
The future is bright...the size difference in this years team compared to last is noticeable especially when standing next to them.
I see somewhere between a 7 and 9 win team here and I see the building blocks truly in place for a great future.
Roman Harrison will be the freshman who has the buzz this week. The freshman has spent the last two weeks trying to figure out how to rush the passer and tried to figure out the defense as he plays outside linebacker, which is a new position for him. Harrison has looked the part from Day 1 in terms of his physical frame and his effort has been great. It’s the biggest thing that jumped out about him in his high school tape, so that is no surprise.
Sunday in the Vols' scrimmage, Harrison flashed a fair amount as he seems to be starting to figure things out. Given his work ethic, he will be a guy that this time next week a lot more people are talking about.
