Gun control debate (merged)

Define large capacity, is it 10 rounds, 17 rounds, 30 rounds or drum mags?

Assault rifles are by very definition those used solely by the military which have the capability to fire single shot, 3 round bursts and full auto via switching mechanisms.
Now you hounded me to answer your question so I expect you to respond in kind. I want to emphasize assault "style". We don't have a problem with military grade weapons in civilian hands. Those weapons are still banned unless you get approved under the NFA.

If even 1% of legal gun owners were out shooting the living Hades out of the countryside you'd don't think with social media and 24/7 news cycles that everyone would know with a quickness?
Where I live that is every weekend. I have a nice range myself. The crack of an SBR with a suppressor is awesome.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I avoid all things gun), but doesn't the NRA advocate for open carry rights for all firearms and no limits on ammunition? Seems like this kid was just testing the limits of the absurd world the NRA is fighting to put us in.
It wasnt the NRA that "put us here". It was the founding fathers. Stop trying to change the narrative. The NRA has done Jack, which is one of the reasons it confuses me that people support them

Actually the whole tying 2a with personal defense doesn’t make sense to me.

2a on its own exists to insure the citizenry has the means to overthrow an oppressive government if the need arises. Thus it’s idiocy that people should expect limitations to be put on ANY arms. In the most basic interpretation of 2a I should be able to go down to Cabela’s and buy an M-1A2 Abrams MBT if the need arises to meet the potential foe on equal terms. And NFA1934 and GCA1968 should be repealed immediately. Personal defense and preservation of one’s own life is a completely separate issue.

I've never used any gun is self defense, have you ever had to kill anyone?

I have not as of yet. Several times though I've been real thankful to be carrying.

In one incident it was enough to tell the 2 idiots that unless they had plans to die today I was not the one they wanted to mess with. All the HD gear might have been helpful in that persuasion. Few other times were the gut feeling I was getting cased but groups of other folks showed up. Joys of being a female driving interstates at night and rest area stops.

There used to be some other lib on here that got caught lying about his guns. I have a very hard time believing you have a SBR or a suppressor.

What do "you" consider an assault "style" weapon available to the public? Your definition cannot include anything on the NFA.

I don't consider anything available to civilians as an "assault" weapon. It's simply made up terminology to fit a particular political agenda. They're all just hunting or sporting rifles due to the same essential mechanical parts.

It's the scary looking accessories that folks don't understand and that they have been convinced, with propaganda, make the rifle military issue.

I don't personally own an AR styled hunting rifle as it hasn't fit my wants. I am however seeing some in 9mm that I'll be taking a closer look at in the near future.

The ex owns AR, SKS and AK rifles and we'd go shooting often, during the early to mid years, so I am familiar and comfortable with all of them.

Dealing with sick grand-kiddo, so back and forth on here.

They don’t need to ban “assault rifles” just make the illegal to transport loaded and the problem is solved.

Just shows you're not responsible with you guns. Hope you don't have kids.
Well in my defense Mick, it was a giant whale that flipped the boat over.

I was lucky to escape.

Now, I learned a valuable lesson that day

I teach all 4 of my miss how to tear down, clean, and reassemble all guns that I do not own. I test them for a long time before I let them dry fire guns I dont have, and then I start em on bb, 22, 410.....you get it.

Wouldnt you know it, they are extremely responsible and they promise to never take one of theirs in the middle of the ocean when they may or may not buy their own in the future.

Also, my son Dean said to tell you the following

You're good. I've always thought women should have a weapon of some sort. Give the guys rape whistles.

I didn't say it was mine. As cool as it is, I'm not rushing out to wait a year to buy a couple stamps. Anyway there's the AR-9 if you want to backend the SBR regulations. But I don't own one of those either.

Some places already do require unloaded firearms and ammo be transported in separate vehicle locations.

Give an inch and they'll take another mile.

Next they'd say no transport of loaded handguns. I carry chambered so they can kma on that one..😊
