Mass Shooting in Ohio

All rights have limits in America. You cannot incite a riot despite free speech guarantees. You cannot create a church that smokes crack as part of its communion. You cannot buy nuclear weapons. There are limits.
No. I categorically disagree. My rights do not have limits. I just have consequences for infringing on other citizens rights. A consequence after the fact is NOT a limitation on rights.

Would you make the trade for voter ID laws?

Generally speaking I have no issue with voter id laws. The problem is how states have shown a willingness to use them to suppress voter turnout. For example, Alabama closed dmvs in black counties. So, now the non driving citizens were forced to travel to other counties to get an ID. It took a federal investigation to fix the Alabama issue, but the very fact they would do this is troubling especially when many on here deny racism exists on an institutional level.

I don't know what the big fuss is all about. Some people did something.

I understand the sentiment.

I don’t know if you are just saying this in jest, but one of my employees has a sister that was shot in El Paso. I suspect he is rightfully fussy though.

That's terrible and would understand any outrage that he had toward anything but that being said should we allow victims of drunk drivers outlaw vehicles or alcohol? If we start down that path we lose more than just second amendment rights. Until we focus on the problem instead of objects we'll get no where.

SCOTUS disagrees and always has
I’ll challenge that statement. That’s a broad loaded statement. The Bill of Rights challenges it also. The very 10 first amendments imposed limitations on the gov to stay away from citizens rights. They are literally thou shalt nots.

You either have a right or you don’t. It isn’t a right ... but...

Are you expecting me to provide you a list of every case in which SCOTUS limited constitutional rights?

The Supreme court got lost on that a long time ago. They cannot be trusted to uphold the Constitution any longer. Many on that court are revisionist.

No matter their constructionist bent, there have been limits. Only fools would think rights are limitless in a civilized society

No disagreement from me.
