I’ve been to Cartagena. I recommend The Museum of the Inquisition. Makes me glad I was not around in that time in history. My wife and I are going to Cartagena Columbia in November for a short vacation; we were at dinner last night with some friends and they were kind of shocked that we would go somewhere so "unsafe." I couldn't help but laugh.
I lived in Dayton for 10 years and often went to the Oregon District. University of Dayton is nearby and it was a fun place to have a good time.Just heard about this while listening to BBC. Pretty chilling to hear the BBC commentators describe us as a "powder keg, ready to explode."

Also the Museo de Oro is interesting though much smaller than the gold museum in Bogota.
San Felipe de Barajas castle
Mercado de Bazurto open market
Chiva bus- ask about these party buses
Food- Bandeja Paisa, empanadas, mango con leche drink, arepas, Sancocho is a must. I like Sancocho de Gallina.
Mucha suerte
I think there is something rotten in our culture today: a cancer that is eating us from within. I believe it is a combination of things.
1. A rise in social media. Social media has been linked to depression. Think about how many of these mass shooters have social media accounts and are sharing their radical views such as the Christchurch shooter, or the Douglas high school shooter, or the Synagogue shooter etc. Social media today has turned into an echo chamber where people are surrounded by one view-point 24/7. They think that their view is the only correct view on anything and this breeds extremism whether on Facebook, Twitter, 8chan, or reddit.
2. Bad parenting. I honestly don't fault millenials/igen for this; I believe that this generation inherited an unbelievably awful hand. Parents today would rather dope their kids up with drugs rather than deal with their problems.
3. A marginalization of mental health. There is without a doubt a mental health crisis in this country. I believe there was an article the other day that said that the suicide rates are so bad that they're impacting life expectancy numbers. I cannot emphasize enough how serious a problem this is. Mental health needs to be held in the same seriousness as physical health.
4. 24/7 News cycle. Publishing the name and face of these attention-craving shooters for millions of the world to see is not exactly a good formula. I believe that all major news outlets shouldn't publish the name or the face of mass shooters.
If the left was ONLY wanting to take down confederate statues, I personally wouldn't have a problem with it and I can understand why.
However, I'm inclined to lean towards the idea that confederate statues should stand because the left is using that as a justification for pulling down statutes of Thomas Jefferson and other founding fathers.
You give them a little and they go to the extreme. Similar to what has happened regarding abortion over the past year.
Chilling to hear media overseas reporting on something they know nothing about?Just heard about this while listening to BBC. Pretty chilling to hear the BBC commentators describe us as a "powder keg, ready to explode."
