Never size. That 4-2-5 just didn’t subscribe. Wanted mobile and fast. The premier star, Barnett was in his ideal system (he’s a 4-3 DE all the way) but the rest were running and bouncing off bigger opponents when we played the big boys.

No doubt the different styles require different type body types but a quick look at the 16 and 19 roster show the 16 roster have a DL that was on average 281. This 19 roster is 280 of course counting the OLBs.

So there really is zero difference. Like I said the OL and MLB groups are where we are seeing the size differences

I am very sad to report that the damage to my cousin's brain is too severe for him to wake up. We could keep him alive indefinitely if we give him a permanent breathing tube and feeding tube but have decided him to make him comfortable and to let nature take its course. My family is very appreciative of the thoughts, prayers and well wishes that we have received from all of you. Thank you.
So sorry. Praying for you and your family.

I put this in the wrong thread. If a mod would move it to the appropriate one, I would appreciate it.

Matt Butler was 250 under Shoop...he ain’t 250 now. Those rosters need some updating. And you’re discounting that outside linebackers in the 4-2-5 tended to be around 220. Find me one below 250 now. Zero isn’t the quantifier you imagine it to be.

I think I like seeing comedy live more than music now that I’m older, especially if I don’t really know the band. Saw Hannibal Burress in Knox on Monday and he killed.
That's one of the comedians that makes me straight up go from no laughing to snorting laughter. He's fantastic.

Prob best.

CiCGC. Decent. Liked the one with Eddie Murphy. Seth Rogen started strong but, he's typa guy that unless he has a script...just isnt that funny.
The ones with Larry David, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Bob Einstein are some of the best ones. Great chemistry there.

Who are two players everyone wants to see step up and make an impact in their position groups this season who have the potential?

JJ Peterson- get your head and attitude right son
Maleik Gray- show up every rep and play

Kennedy - His strength is his smarts. Help JG set up the blocks, identify rushers, etc. Leadership.

Gooden - Has to own that group and be disruptive. Go earn that NFL paper and show OUT for the next 13 games.

All about the trenches this year in my book.

Johnson and allen are both under 250. Heck taylor is only 255. Like i said in another post those OLBs are really DEs. Peterson is in the 230s and reportedly playing there as well

Butler is 285 which I used in my figures

Yea that same team we spent the entire fall camp talking about how that crew led by the kongbo talk looked like beast.

Hell that DL had Kongbo, barnett, Tuttle, Lewis, verreen, Phillips, McKenzie, taylor, Vickers. It was loaded with talent and size.

Its crazy how quickly posters forget.

Not sure what the point is. Barnett and Lewis are NFL players. They lacked development. I would take those guys right now with this staff.

Thread on Bama247 from a Bama poster predicting how he thinks the season plays out (I only included the SEC but he predicted all 5 power conf's), this should cause some discussion...

Since it is officially August, and football season is just three weeks away, I figured we should go ahead and get started with the predictions.

A few notes: Some teams (LSU, Missouri, Oklahoma State, etc.) have been assigned records and finishes that exceed their implied team value due to various factors such as favorable schedules, weak conferences, and what not. The four playoff teams that I have selected are based upon the results that I expect from the season; they are the four teams that I expect to make the playoffs, NOT the teams that I think are going to be the best four.

SEC - LSU will overachieve based on how the schedule lines up. Tennessee has the most returning production on both sides of the ball. Expect them to make major strides after showing some flashes last year. It helps having Florida early and Georgia at home after a bye week. Arkansas will make it to a bowl this year, but Missouri's post-season ban will prevent the conference from having ten bowl eligible teams. Look for Kentucky, South Carolina, and Mississippi State to fall hard. Toughest game to pick was Auburn @ Florida. After much deliberation and several flips, I went with Florida.

West:
1) Alabama 12-0, 8-0, 6-0
2) LSU 11-1,7-1,5-1
3) Texas A&M 10-2, 6-2, 4-2
4) Auburn 8-4, 4-4, 3-3
5) Arkansas 7-5, 3-5, 2-4
6) Ole Miss 4-8, 1-7, 1-5
7) Mississippi State 5-7, 1-7, 0-6

East:
1) Missouri 11-1, 7-1, 5-1 ***ineligible for SEC championship pending appeal
2) Tennessee 10-2, 6-2, 5-1
3) Georgia 9-3, 5-3, 5-1
4) Florida 8-4, 4-4, 3-3
5) Vanderbilt 6-6, 3-5, 2-4
6) South Carolina 4-8, 1-7, 1-5
7) Kentucky 4-8, 0-8, 0-6

SEC Championship: Alabama def. Tennessee

Where do UGA's 3 losses come from?

Auburn, Tennessee, and Texas A&M. Georgia always struggles against the West, and I think Auburn will be better than people think. I don’t see Georgia going on the road and winning that one. Tennessee has a bye week before Georgia and they also have the most returning production in the conference. I also think that Jeremy and Jimbo are both quite a bit better than Kirby with the Xs and Os bit. With as much as Georgia lost from last year they will take a step back. It will be a small step back because they have recruited well, but you will see a difference from last year. They lost every receiver of any significance plus the best TE in the conference. They lost a good many on defense too. If they had Tennessee anywhere else on the schedule or at home I would probably have picked them to win that game

Hard to see UT winning more than 9 and Mizzou winning the East.

Before I looked at the schedules I was quite sure I was going to pick Georgia or Florida to win the East. But with Florida’s O-line questions, having to play LSU on the road the week after Auburn, and getting Missouri on the road, I couldn’t see that. Picking Tennessee to beat Georgia was hard but I know how much Georgia lost from last year, and when I saw that Tennessee got them early and following a bye week I figured that Pruitt is enough better at game planning than Kirby that Tennessee can get the win there.

I know how the 3-4 works. To even suggest that the aggregate sizes and weights haven’t dramatically increased is Bruin Fail in liquid form. 😏

When you said “Bama fan” I should have known insanity was coming.

Mizzou 11-1? 😂

The point was that we aren’t bigger on the DL.

We are bigger at OL and MLB
Pretty much 300 avg for all 3...dramatically more if Simmons logs minutes. We have big boys who can push the pile backwards...didn’t have that before.

This is the smartest Bama fan I’ve ever seen

So if you want to compete just interior DL that’s fine but Kmac and Tuttle were beast as well

I doubt they go 11-1 but they have the easiest SEC schedule of anyone. Only difficult road game is @UGA. West opponents are Ark and Ole Miss. They get UF, UT, USC, OM all at home. 1 good OOC opponent in WVU which is also at home. About the best schedule possible for them.

Very sorry to hear! 34, this just isn't fair. U just don't consider eart attacks at that age. Feel for u and ur family..

Tuttle was 6’3” and 300. Not 6’7” and not 330. McKenzie was not always in shape and was only 6’2”.

Also, Savion Williams is just a bit bigger than Tuttle. That’s 3 bigger than our best interior DL from the last few years.
