Cherry picking stats a bit, JG does take care of the ball though.

Player A: 3151 yards, 29 TDs 9-4 in 13 starts (also ran for 2 TDs with a ypc avg of 2.3)
Player B: 1907 yards, 12 TDs 5-7 in 12 starts (ypc -2.4 with 0 TDs)

Certainly one way to spin them that’s for sure.

It may not make a whole lot of difference but I sort of always try to check to see if stats are getting padded against mediocre competition. So in looking at Herbert's passing stats for last year I find that he threw 4 of his TDs against a 4-7 Portland State FCS team. He threw 5 TDs against a 3-9 Bowling Green team and he threw 3 more against a 1-11 San Jose State team. He only had one other game where he threw 3 TDs. That was against 9-5 Utah. I'm not arguing the guy is not a good QB just that numbers for any QB are affected by a lot of things including the guys around him, his level of competition, and the guy up in the booth who is calling plays.

This is my favorite stat in the comparison of these 2 QBs. Herbert, while having the lower completion %, actually COMPLETED only 6 fewer passes on the year than Guarantano was even allowed to ATTEMPT. I think that might have something to do with the differing coaching philosophies involved. jmo.

This is a quip from Phil Steele on his blog:

If you’ve been reading my College Preview Magazine, you know that every year I look for teams that are much better than their final record would indicate, or those that are much weaker than the final standings would indicate based on the yards per game earned in league play. I only base statistics on league play in the NCAA because teams play non-conference slates of various degrees of difficulty, which affects their overall ypg (yards per game) for the season. This also works for the NFL.

me also, I have to go get a shot everytime.
That would suck.
I'm polar opposite, have to wash my hands thoroughly after being outside. Don't even know what it looks like and can handle it all day with no side effects.
Could easily shake someone's hand and pass it along without ever getting a symptom myself.

Florida is a mess. UT steals one in the swamp. DB's going to give Franks fits.

Secret will be out. No one will take them lightly.

I dont think we will have a good pass rush. DBs will have their hands full all year, but they are talented

Our DB’s giving him fits is actually an advantage for us. That’s a really good point actually. He isn’t good. We’re gonna have a ball hawking secondary.

It won’t matter if their pass rush chews us up like it did last year. That has traditionally been our downfall against them, when their DL just controls the game.

I think the pass rush will be better than last year, but it won’t be consistent enough to force the opposing QB into bad throws. Now when these DB’s are Sr’s and Jr’s look out...
