SIAP - I don't get the Phil Steele magazine but evidently he sees a lot of improvement in our team this year on both sides of the ball.

If we score 30+ per game this season and have a defense like 2015 (or better), we’re going to be very happy about the state of Tennessee football this time next year. We will win 7+ and land a top 7ish class. Would be fun!

Whatever became of Brandon Stewart?

Same question for ... Schaefer I think - the qb from Florida we signed in the same class Ainge came here.

Why hold off?
well, if he commits here, then it's just building momentum to add more good news on more good news.

if he doesn't come here, then we get let down a little easier; classic bad news/good news situation.

and for that, whoever he is, get's a preemptive "thank you".

:)

I think Steele's phrase on defense was it would be the best "since 2015".

"Since 2015" we have had these defenses:
2016 - 28.8 PPG Allowed (68th nationally)
2017 - 29.1 (83rd)
2018 - 27.9 (77th)

Those were not exactly defenses to write home about. I would hope we improve on last year which, by default, would be the lowest PPG allowed since 2015.

Important thing is to at least break even in the PPG margin category. Fwiw, we were at -5.1 PPG in 2018 and -9.3 in 2017. That should allow us a good shot at going bowling or even better. If we can put up, say, 30 PPG and only allow 25 PPG, that would be the same ~+5 PPG scoring margin as we had in 2014 (Butch's 2nd year - 28.9 PTS FOR/24.2 AGAINST) and we won 7 that year, including the bowl win. That would also be a total increase in scoring margin of 10.1 PPG over 2018. In 2014 we achieved a whopping 9.9 increase YoY. I am big into context, but it would hurt a bit to not see this staff show the same level of increase, with an easier schedule, as CBJ showed through Year 2. I think we will have every opportunity to match or even exceed this bar.

Am I the only one surprised that an NDA would be new? Haha
Edit for dumbarse mistake.

There has always been a verbal agreement to not disclose anything that happens within the closed doors of the AD- that’s more or less why I stopped posting here and then just kinda forgot to start back. I heard from a former coworker that the agreement signed every year now had an explicit NDA.

Also, hey folks long time no see.

I would appreciate the prayers of my VN folks. We found out yesterday that my mothers "non aggressive" cancer has spread, and is acting totally against the norm for the kind she has. She has to start Chemo monday, and her doctors are trying to get immunotherapy approved also. Prognosis is 3-4 months without, and 10-12 with treatment if the treatment doesn't work. I am in a stupor, this was a sucker punch we did not expect. The docs had been extremely optimistic, and this was not supposed to happen.
So very sorry. Prayers for sure. All the prayers.

I don’t really want to get into this again - we’ve all had arguments until we’re blue in the face - but my opinion is that Grant and Admiral were special and inflated Barnes’ ability. I don’t think he’ll be worth the money going forward, but he’ll still likely be better than anyone we would have hired to replace him.
You keep saying that you don't want to argue about it, but you started it and you continued it with your statement after you said you didn't want to argue about it.

Schofield, Williams and Bone were one and done talents that took three to be done. Coach had nothing to do with it. 😉
