And I was saying his willingness to take on a program after being FIRED for the first time in his long career didn’t preclude said program from being perceived as down...or a “dumpster fire”, disagree?I’m not sure what point your making then... yea he got fired after 20+ years. The fact he was there for 20 years means he’s a really good coach
The program was perceived as down... if you don’t think so we’ll agree to disagree. There were 0 NBA players on the roster, 0 committed at the time (I guess arguably Schofield in hindsight only) and very little fan support given the decline we’d seen in the past 5 years. The facilities were there and that was about it. We weren’t an attractive program to an established coach at a power 5 or high mid major program. We were lucky with Barnes’ situation. And I was saying his willingness to take on a program after being FIRED for the first time in his long career didn’t preclude said program from being perceived as down...or a “dumpster fire”, disagree?
And I am almost positive that I strongly agreed with that, but that is like saying if DJ Burns had Larry Bird's jumper he'd be a lottery pick. You can't play the if game when it comes to projecting whether someone is a future draft pick, especially as it relates to a physical attribute like height. The fact that Williams isn't 6-10 is what prevented him from being a lottery pick, and that was never likely to change. That’s fine. Put Im pretty sure I said both have talent to make the NBA. I know for sure I did on Williams, Schofield I wasn’t as confident. I remember saying if Williams was 6’10 he’d be a lottery pick during his freshman year.
Lmao what? Talk about an overreaction.Exactly, Barnes botched this offseason badly.
I DO think so. Sure you’re having a conversation with the right poster? The program was perceived as down... if you don’t think so we’ll agree to disagree. Huge difference between, “he has talent to make the NBA” and “he’s going to be playing in the NBA”.That’s fine. Put Im pretty sure I said both have talent to make the NBA. I know for sure I did on Williams, Schofield I wasn’t as confident. I remember saying if Williams was 6’10 he’d be a lottery pick during his freshman year.
Guess we should go ahead and call the season nowHe took two transfers and the NCAA is now cracking down on waivers to play immediately. We’re gonna have 11 scholarship players eligible to play.
-Two freshmen need a year to develop (Pember & Gaines)
-One player is allegedly on thin ice (Burns)
-One player can’t stay healthy (Kent)
-Pons and Johnson haven’t proven they’re rotation players
-Fulkerson hasn’t proved he’s a starter
-James is a freshman
There are so many questions. So many things can go wrong.
Well Keon Johnson commits 3 months before our first game, so....We need to stop acting like the 2020 class is guaranteed to be elite too. Things could take a turn quick. The momentum they had this past year will quickly diminish if they struggle out of the gate. If they miss the tourney, landing an elite class isn’t a given whatsoever.
Lmao what? Talk about an overreaction.
Targeted ORN, landed him.
Targets Plavsic, landed him.
Targeted Bailey, landed him.
Roster was full...saw an opportunity to land a big time player in Blackshear, targeted him and missed...guess Calipari botched the offseason too?
