With the Lawrence commitment, we have a 3.7 Rivals star rating average with our commits (not including Albright, the LS). That would put us 8th overall, .01 from being in a tie with UGA, Notre Dame and Stanford for 5th overall.

Star average is very important. You must have a 3.5 star average or better to be competitive with the big boys.

Hot take:

In state guys are trolling. They’re having fun with the recruitment - but they’re Vols in the end.

The Keshawn Lawerence thing was planned for a while. He decided to be a Vol a while ago. But he took the Miami OV and put out all this misinformation about being torn for hype. His video he was wearing the Miami T-shirt for shock value. He wanted some drama in his moment and a lot of people bought in and stressed it.

Tyler Baron tweeted his Fathers Day tweet with him and his dad at Oklahoma and OSU. That was deliberate. Gamesmanship. Hype for the moment. Hype about him liking OSU a little. Torn. Blah blah blah. In the end - and soon, he’ll be a Vol.

Hardy seems to be doing the same thing. Tweeting vague stuff like “decisions” etc. Hype about him liking OSU. In the end, he’s a Vol.

Cooper didn’t really do anything but it doesn’t seem to be in his nature. Same with Rybka. He seems pretty straightforward and not so much into ancillary portion of “the process.”

Ultimately a lot of these kids are ..... kids. They want their hat on the table moment. Spot light on them and people waiting with baited breath.

I imagine there will be a lot of misinformation out there. Even sources you pay $ for accurate information seem to be playing along in the gamesmanship- hyping up Miami interest when they had articles and videos shot for a Vol commitment already, for example.

Best advice - and this might seem comical coming from me considering how I was in May (it was only May) - is to just relax. Breath. Don’t hang on every tweet. Don’t buy much of what the “insiders” try and sell. Nothing against our good guys here - but we know VQ is fos and we all read all the “credible” UM insiders claiming KL was theirs etc.

Instead just enjoy the ride and follow the visits. Trust your gut. My gut never told me anything but KL was a Vol. I feel the same for Baron and Hardy and Rybka. Not sold on Morris or Thomas.

Recruiting is a business. Rivals and 247 have to have something to sell, whether it’s real or fabricated. In the end, it’ll all be okay.

Blue Chip Ratio from 2010-2018 = 39%

Pruitt's first 2 full classes so far = 59%

Sounds good but what’s the technical definition of blue chip? Is it above .90 on 247 or just 4 or more stars?

Most playoff teams range from 50% to 60% I think but I’m not a stats hound.

Hi, my name is @HoleInTheRoof, and I’m a recovered negavol.

One factor people seem to forget about, or it simply slips their minds. And I don't know that the NCAA is really "up to speed" on it just yet themselves.

Social media has gone the way of "pay for popularity" what I mean is all these platforms now can turn you money based on your fan-base/followers/subscribers. So if a HS kid/college student wants to try and make some side cash that's a pretty easy way to do it, especially considering the numerous fan-bases who will latch on to follow the player during recruiting (or during their college career). And even if they don't monetize this popularity into profit until after college it still sets the foundation for them.

You get in the tens of thousands of followers on any major social media and you'll have brands wanting to sponsor post etc. to reach people.

This is misleading since Rivals counts 3.79999 as 3.7. We are .087 behind UGA which sounds good. To put in perspective, if we add King, Hardy, and Baron we will rise .017 in our average. We ain’t close to UGA yet. Rivals sucks anyway so who’s counting.

Contreras IS kind of a bitch though, you have to admit lol. Zero reason for him to act the way he did from what I could see.
Agreed and Heyward kind of chilled him out. He is still young. I am not sure why Flowers decided to join the conversation when Contreras was talking to the ump. Still, I don't think you should show another team up unless they have done it first. In this case, Willson was out of line.

I think some recruits are just trying to stretch it out a little. It's summer, school's out and they've been having fun taking trips and getting attention from other schools. Practice doesn't start for another few weeks, so some of them probably just want to enjoy being recruited a little longer.

I think the core group of in-state guys will be loyal-- once they're committed, they'll stay committed... unless the season completely implodes. Which few expect to happen.

What is our staff and team expecting? 7/8 wins?
