The Kerry Blackshear Thread

According to VT Rivals guy, the plan was always to explore all possible options before making a decision. I get how not shutting it down after the visit doesn't look good for us here, but seems as if Blackshear is just following his original plan.

And that’s understandable and seems like a risky tactic to try and sway him away from that plan if that’s what happened

We're not speculating though. Rob Lewis, verbatim, said the staff is not confident.

Understand that. Likely because Kentucky and A&M trips are still upcoming. But those trips were always going to happen. Blackshear seems to be keeping this very close to the vest. I'm not sure any of the schools he's visited/will visit are particularly confident in landing him either at this point.

Exactly. It seems that RL's whole reason for saying the staff isn't super confident was based on the fact that he scheduled two more visits. Could be he's just making sure of things.

I have the same amount as you on this...none.

You have already said we were getting him, then changed that to "we have as good of a chance as the others." Then you act like he's going to cancel his UK visit, and when proven wrong, say "oh, that was just a guess and not from my source."

You're no different than all the Gruden rumor mongers. You expect us to believe you have better "sources" than Rob Lewis, Grant Ramey, Chris Dorth, etc. All of those guys get their info directly from the staff.

You are just guessing (probably based off of what you read on the internet), and if you're right, it was "your source." If you're wrong, "oh, things changed." And you didn't come out of the woodwork until his visit was already confirmed. You have yet to break any actual news.

I've never understood these posts. No one knows if he actually has a "source" or not. Sure, we can speculate. But I always just take info as it comes and just wait for confirmation.

If he is truly just guessing or trolling and it happens repeatedly, the board takes care of that by not paying attention after he cries wolf too many times.

Rob's opinion. He basically said that KB taking more visits (generally) doesn't inspire confidence. But it doesn't say, "my connections or the staff are not confident now that he is making more visits."

Imo he’s saying more than his own opinion. Maybe I am wrong

Not how I read that comment at all. Completely took it as Rob saying HE didn't have much confidence or that it didn't inspire much confidence in him that the Vols are the leaders for Blackshear. Didn't take it as him insinuating anything about the staff.

Yea, that quote doesn't represent the staff's confidence.
Obviously you hope the guy commits, so if he leaves campus and hasn’t then you probably realize he’s open...that doesn’t mean Tennessee is out or even mean they’re any less likely to land him, just means they’re gonna have to wait. Florida and Arkansas have been waiting around too, if leaving without committing meant a school was out he’d be down to just Kentucky and maybe A&M.
