Admittedly I'm not familiar with how he cooked the books. I know some of his domestic policies ended up hurting later but by all accounts he seemed to manage the deficit. It was a topic he was proud of.
At first, it seemed Trump was lowering the debt. It fell $102 billion in the first six months after Trump took office (Fox News, specifically Lou Dobbs, made a huge deal of this). On January 20th, the day Trump was inaugurated, the debt was $19.9 trillion. On July 30th, it was $19.8 trillion. But it wasn't because of anything that Trump had done. Instead, it was because of the federal debt ceiling. What huge debt has Trump initiated?

On September 8, 2017, Trump signed a bill increasing the debt ceiling. Later that day, the debt exceeded $20 trillion for the first time in U.S. history. On February 9, 2018, Trump signed a bill suspending the debt ceiling until March 1, 2019. It was $22 trillion. In just two years, Trump has overseen the fastest dollar increase in the debt of any president.
Trump's fiscal year 2020 budget projects the debt would increase $5 trillion during his first term. That's as much as Obama added while fighting a recession. Trump has not fulfilled his campaign promise to cut the debt. Instead, he has done the opposite.
Reducing the debt will never be done by either party. The one that tries to make cuts will be beaten over the head with it by the other party. Forget the debt. It really can't be reduced much without attacking SS, Medicare, and the military. Not going to happen. At first, it seemed Trump was lowering the debt. I don't disagree with you. This is both party's to own, but we did have a candidate in 2016 who (absurdly) vowed to completely eliminate the debt in 8 years. That candidate was none other than Donald Trump.Reducing the debt will never be done by either party. The one that tries to make cuts will be beaten over the head with it by the other party. Where did I say that I had believed it? I doubt I need to tell anyone here that I didn't vote for Trump. I believe absolutely NOTHING that comes out of his mouth. It was an incredibly stupid campaign pledge though, wasn't it? Nothing that Biden will promise in 2020 could possibly be anywhere near that far-fetched.LOL......I guess you were the only MORON in the USA to completely believe that statement from Trump.
That can will continue to be kicked down the road until it becomes to big to kick.Where did I say that I had believed it? I doubt I need to tell anyone here that I didn't vote for Trump. I remember it because ridiculous pledges are easily remembered.... promising to eliminate a $19.9 trillion dollar debt in 8 years qualifies as ridiculous. You remembered it enough to post it so you believed it true. Nobody but you ever brought that up. We all know you are a Trump hater & can't accept the fact he's your President. We all know it. God even knows it to be true. You constantly whine & cry & moan each & everyday on here all things bad orange-man Trump is. We got it. You are nothing but a broken record. I don't even read your posts anymore because you say the same thing over & over & over. You're a liberal loony hate filled Trump clown. All because you lost an election that your crooked crime-filled DNC party had put up a terrible terrible candidate. It's not my fault ya'll suck & have nothing to offer.
It's a painful read that only an economist could love, but Clintonian policy basically created a boom in Federal income by creating huge private debt. And as analysts point out, individuals and businesses can't ignore debt like a government can ... when the bills came due the whole fable came crashing down, and by that time Clinton was long gone and working new scams to become a multimillionaire.
Well, he did... and you guys can use Google just as well as I can if you need verification. Just Google "Donald Trump: I will eliminate U.S. debt in 8 years". You will find a link at the top of the page to both 'PolitiFact' and 'The Hill' with his exact quote.I don't remember him saying that he would erase the national debt. The deficit, maybe.
Yep, he needs to be thrown out of office for his reckless spending habits. We need to pass a constitutional amendment where only congress controls spending.

Then he really shouldn't have said that he was going to eliminate the U.S. debt in 8 years, now should he? Your biggest problem here seems to be that I'm holding one of his own quotes from the campaign against him... and no, it wasn't said as sarcasm or in jest either.Libs didnt read this, didnt note the sarcasm, or dont want to stop bashing Trump long enough to acknowledge that the President doesnt spend money. Congress does. That Democrat majority Congress has spent us trillions more into debt. Not Trump. He cant even get 8 billion to build the wall....but he is responsible for 5 trillion in debt???
Yall realize how stupid that sounds? Who makes the budget? Who makes the laws? All Trump can do is either sign it, or refuse to sign it while the .gov is shut down and the liberal media is crying everyday that it is Trumps fault....while the people actually responsible for the budget...dimwit majority congress, are on recess for a month over the holidays. Dimwits cant remember that? Or just dont want to? Until Trump gets his measly 8 billion for the wall, he gets zero blame for spending. The only thing he asked for funding for got squashed. No sir...this is a democrap spending fiasco. Own it.
