Pember over ORN?

No way. Pember redshirts IMO, and ORN provides quality minutes. ORN reminds me alot of Grant Williams if you've seen his film. Very underrated but puts up the numbers. Needs to work on defense a bit, but Barnes will help him develop that part of his game.

Per VQ ORN has created a buzz since arriving, but Plavsic has blown people away...was the best big man on the team the moment he walked in the door and as a redshirt freshman has more of an offensive skill set than Kyle Alexander had as a redshirt senior.
Wow, great to hear.

Looks like a team full of role players. Definitely need James, Bowden, and Johnson to step up their games in a big way. Hopefully, at least one of the bigs and can surprise us and step up in a BIG way.

If the O/U is 9 wins in SEC play, I'd be hard pressed to take the over.

If Burns can run the floor, I see him starting or give plenty of minutes. If he, Kent, Fulky, and Plavsic can give us solid play, then we could have another good season. We'll be guard driven in 19', but could be very good.

Starters @ open...
Turner 1&2
Bowden 2&1
Pons 3, 2 & 4
Fulky 4&5
Kent 5
w minutes for Johnson, James, Burns, Plavsic, ORN

Starters by SEC ...
Turner 1&2
Bowden 2&1
James 3 & 2
Fulky 4&5
Burns 5
w minutes for Johnson, Pons, Kent, Plavsic, ORN

It is amazing that is everyone is saying that we will be a guard-oriented team, but even so, we could have a regular 5 who are 6'5" or taller. Maybe this will alleviate some of the experience issues down low.

Isn't this the tallest Tennessee team ever, if Plavsic gets cleared to play?

There might have been 4 or 5 seven footers on a team in the early 1970s. Kosmalski and Brykalski for certain. Greg Longshore, but he might have transferred without ever playing. Then there were 2 others close to 7' that were scrubs, transfers, kicked off, or near misses that didn't actually sign. Rupert Breedlove possibly.

I guess what I mean is that the 3 most probable big scorers are guard position. Turner, Bowden, and James. A big contrast from the focus of this team the past 2 seasons. Turner and Bowden are going to be "Lofton/Smith" style catalysts for the success of this years team. From the eye test, James looks the part to make immediate impact at the 3 or 2 position IMO. I know he was in the PG category, but I have a hard time seeing Barnes using him there with 2 players with PG experience. If James played PG to distribute from the git-go, then he is going to be some super kinda special IMO in whom the college game slows down very quickly. I would allow that.

Of that group, I only remember Kosmalski. Isn't he the one who would shoot 3 or 4 times from point blank range, before finally hitting the shot? Or was that Nash?

I am not disputing anyone. I just found it interesting that this would be the case with one of our tallest teams ever.

There are so many unknowns with this team though. It is hard to say who might end up being a team leader, other than the ones you have mentioned.

It seems similar to Barnes' 2nd Tennessee team that had all the new faces; Williams, Bowden, Bone, Turner, Fulkerson. No idea who would really establish themselves as the alpha dog in the group, but it worked itself out, and I trust it will again. The new guys will have to assimilate themselves and find their niche to help the team. Leaders will arise from that.

If Plasvic is eligible.....
Plasvic
Burns
Bowden
Turner
James

The majority of bench minutes would go to Johnson, Pons, Fulk and Kent

If Plasvic isn't eligible
Burns
Kent
Bowden
Turner
James

The bench minutes would go to Johnson, Pons and Fulk with ORN getting minutes here and there.p

Bowden is an emergency point guard. He never looked comfortable at the point guard position all year. The one good thing he did was pass the ball up so we could get in secondary transition. Bowden’s handle wasn’t good enough against good point guards, which is why Barnes stopped playing him at pg when Turner returned.
