Tennessee Vols Basketball Recruiting

Lol what?? Closer to losing Turner after last season than Pons this season, Pons averaged 2ppg.

Come on now read the post. “For different reasons”

Obviously Bailey has been a better scorer and shooter but there is a reason he lost PT and felt he needed to transfer.

Pons lost PT as well and doubt many would have been shocked if a change of scenery was his choice at years end.

They both were similarly ranked and both lost their roles. That’s the comparison.

For different reasons but id compare Bailey leaving Oregon to if Pons left Tennessee.

Have you read any Oregon boards? Are they upset about losing him?

Not sure how I would feel about Pons. I thought he would make more of an impact. This is a big year for him

And one was much better than the other, like not even comparable really, but ok.

One was much better of a scorer yes but you can’t say better overall with any degree of confidence

But my guess is Bailey really really struggled in others areas or a shooter like that doesn’t get benched

Well we will find out quickly '20-'21, because if he doesn't play defense, Barnes won't play him much. The thing that I worry a little about Bailey is his assists numbers, wish they were better. Other than that, he seems like a pure shooter, will need that, imo, in '20-'21

Pure shooter for sure. Would seem to be a good match with Pons and Kjohnson to me.
Those two guys should be excellent defenders but both lack the shooting skill
He brings

Keon! That '20 class is going to be the greatest Vol basketball recruiting class, ever. Btw, if the light comes on for Pons, he could be an "unicorn"

Yea I think most of Pons issues is mental. It’s time for him to think he’s damn good and he will be.

VQ saying that Bailey will OV the second week of June, I thought it would be a done deal sooner than that but maybe not.

They confirmed again that Tennessee will absolutely oversign in the fall if guys want in, and made it sound like they were willing to oversign by more than 1 even.

To oversign by one, I understand. But given our rising stock as a program, I am highly skeptical of doing more than that.

With Plavsic offering 2+ years that has to be a major factor

Why take transfers like Bailey + whoever at the cost of a 2020 recruit.

If I'm wrong and the second os isn't counting against then I can see differently but otherwise it just doesn't make sense. But if that's the case why not oversign 3,4,5?

Take the best available as an oversign but taking 2 is a bit much considering how much high quality HS players we have in our sights.

We aren’t oversigning this class, that’s talking about the fall 2020 class...Bailey puts us at 13, that leaves 2 spots to sign in the Fall for Class of 2020, they are saying we will oversign in the fall if our top targets want in.

In the first 1/3 of the year Pons was a respectable 32% from 3 on 19 attempts. Then he lost his confidence and Pt and was scared to shoot. He only attempted 7 more 3s all
Year after that.

It’s very reasonable to think he can be a 35% guy if he gets his mind right

He didn't play in the last 2 NCAA Tournament games, I'm assuming at that point it was made clear to the staff he wanted out. He played an average of 14.5 mpg in the conference tournament. Will Richardson (freshmen) emerging was more of a reason Bailey saw less minutes towards the end of the season.
