Tennessee Vols Basketball Recruiting

Yeah, gotta try to get Blackshear on the Hill. The pitch has to be, "with Turner, Bowden, our 5 star freshman, James and role players Fulk, JJ and Pons, all we are missing is a replacement for Grant. That's all u, Kenny. Maybe u can be SEC player of the year, too, filling Grant's roll". I would buy it
Agree. He’s a must take for this program. Gotta go after him hard

Especially of Blackshears caliber given our needs and the renewed expectations of the program

Not even from the recruiting 20' class implications that we've discussed here. I just haven't seen many people really prop up this Bailey kid. And he's not even going to be able to help out immediately. Just think there are a lot better options right now than to just settle on him.

Really wish they would take a grad transfer opposed to Bailey.
I think they would’ve been open to that but there really weren’t that many difference maker options available this year...and obviously looking ahead theres a pretty obvious need for a guy like Bailey, and he solves more than just a 1 year fill.

If Blackshear told the staff it’s Tennessee or the NBA that would be one thing, but if he isn’t giving much mutual interest why shut off other options for a guy not coming here?

I think I could name about 10-15 guys at least that I'd rather have at the moment.

“Settling” on a former Top 100 player at a position of need that comes with experience...program sure has come a long way, I remember when people were begging for a Top 100 recruit.

I assume if the ink were dry we’d know
Plavsic was done for weeks, didn’t hear about it until Williams announced.

Even so, if you’ve communicated with a kid and he’s made arrangements to be here it’s pretty bad to then tell him change of plans so you can pursue someone who isn’t showing much interest anyhow.

You may be right. It's quite possible that the majority wouldn't be interested. The one guy outside of Blackshear that I'd really want is Jaylen Fisher.
Not a bad name, but would also have to sit out and has been hampered with injuries and have been questions about if he will even be able to play again...seems a bit risky?

But when Turner and Bowden graduate and if James turns out to be a one and done would we be comfortable with an inexperienced FR PG learning on the job?

Depends, are you anticipating landing Cam Hayes or Caleb Love? I think I'd be okay throwing one of those two in the fire. But I don't disagree with your point. Could potentially be a concern.
