Arnold really turned it on at season's end, and she was clutch in Game 2 of the SR....tremendous performance. She really showed some fire and emotion. Looking forward to her carrying that into her senior season!

The LVs have had at least one AA every year since 2004. I think Leach will be a repeat AA, but if not, it'll be another record broken, bookending this year's SR class being the first to miss the WCWS all four years since the Weeklys arrived. We've had a good run-- and Seggern, Shipman and Rogers all have AA-potential next year.

Milloy is also a pitcher, so I wonder if she could get some innings if need be. She reminds me a ton of Rainey Gaffin.

Honestly, neither Florida nor Tennessee were good enough to get to OKC. The fact that one is there is a joke, but the SelCom is so hell bent on going by RPI, which explains Florida's high seeding.

Had we not crapped away several SEC series, we could've had a great shot at being a SR host.

I kept thinking throughout the game that all the swings Hoover was taking and closely missing could come back to hurt us if she ever finally made the perfect mental/physical adjustment at just the right time. Unfortunately, my fear was realized. A decent hitter can only be foiled so many times before she finally hones in and connects.

when they flashed on the screen that Hoover had struck out 3 times, I said to myself, uh-oh, she's going to get the winning hit --- hate to be right sometimes :(

I think she will get a lot of innings her high school era is under 1.00 and expect she can also pitch effectively in the SEC.

Hopefully she can help if we need her, but high school stats don't always translate to college. A lot of dominant high school pitchers can't get SEC hitters out.

She will probably be better as a closer one or two innings. She struck out 188 in 130 innings pitched this past season. I think if you could get five innings out of the starter she could come in and close out games.

Hard to find travel stats. Here is her travel roster. She is listed as one of 3 pitchers but she is listed as CF/P. The other 2 are listed as pitcher first. I assume she was the #3 pitcher. It is an impressive list of college commitments. Since Callie Turner made the under 19 Team USA and Rogers and Arnold are returning I'd be surprised if Milloy pitches much, unless somebody gets hurt or really struggles. Below this roster is a paragraph from a Seattle Times article on Milloy. It says her high school ERA was 2.05

I was looking at the UT softball website. It goes back 15 years with stats. Our pitching was absolutely good enough this post season to get us to the WCWS, so I didn't really look at pitching stats much. Our offense sucked so I was looking at those stats.

Our home run production is not much different than it has been many years. We hit 49 this year. We've been to the WCWS 7 times. 5 times we went to the WCWS with 52, 43, 40, 51, 45 HRs.

One difference is we used to make up for lack of power with speed. 6 of the times we made the WCWS we stole 127, 119, 168, 123, 115, 114 bases. The only time we made the WCWS without stealing at least 100 bases was the year we hit 100 homers in 2015. We stole 68 bases this year and 66 last year.

But to use your speed you have to get on base and I think the biggest difference is batting average against good teams ( I used the SEC games only because early season games have too many podunks included). Our batting average against SEC teams the 7 times we made the WCWS were .285 - .324 - .296 - .286 - .290 - .322 - .285. The last 3 years our SEC batting average has been .259 - .260 - .261. Those are the 3 worst over that 15 year period.

I don't think hitting more home runs is the answer. Hitting more singles and doubles is the answer. Making contact with the ball when there is a runner on 3rd with less than 2 outs instead of striking out is the answer . Our problem is not that we can't hit home runs. Our problem is that we just can't hit. JMO

#2 pitcher Turner (as long as she proves herself in the fall)
#3 Arnold

Curran and Milloy may or may not see mound time. The betting odds since Ralph is the coach is not....he absolutely to UT detriment refuse to have 2 way players.

Does anyone know if the Weekly's are looking at this girl from the Johnson City area...Megan Ackerman...As good as she was in the batter’s box, the Chattanooga State signee was equally tough in the circle. In 161 1/3 innings, she allowed only 136 hits with 16 walks and 121 strikeouts. Her record was 25-3 and she had an ERA of 1.17. Chattanooga State is a community college.
She is also a lefty!!!

It's not correct to say he refuses. Maybe he does it less than some coaches? Or maybe our pitchers just haven't been among the better hitters much of the time? Gaffin and Stacy Jennings did both a lot. Aucoin did both quite a bit. Tarango did both some.

I don't follow high school softball much anymore so I wouldn't know her by name. No disrespect intended to her, I'm sure she's a fine player, but 136 hits given up in 161 innings in high school is more than you'd expect from a pitcher to be considered by SEC coaches. Ashley Rogers gave up 118 hits in 173 innings this year against a major college schedule.
