I can't find even a tiny suggestion to back up your assertion that it was Kiffin's holdovers playing into his decision.
Even in the article your citing. Not one mention by anyone, only that he has no interest in leaving regardless.
Maybe he unintentionally got Whittingham mixed up with Cut? Regardless the time to land Patterson, Whittingham et al was after FULMER. And both those candidates were mid-major candidates at the time.

It is pretty wildly known that Mike wanted the next coach to keep some of kiffins staff to cut down on buyouts especially. He did it with cutcliffe just like he did with KW.

What are you quoting? Hank Hill’s Diary? 😉 Seriously that isn’t common knowledge and my original point stands. WE didn’t turn down anybody to hire Dooley.

Why would we turn down someone we Flew in to offer.... Lol that’s not how searches work. Dooley was like 9th on the list and part of that was the stipulations that Hamilton was trying to put on prospective coaches.

Maybe but there's no evidence that was an issue with KW.

We thought he was going to accept. Everyone thought that Thursday night that KW would be our next coach... he says no thanks Friday morning and Dooley is basically hired that Friday night.

Crazy how different things could’ve been

Are you paying attention? I’ve never suggested anything remotely that WE turned any viable candidate down...not even Cutcliffe...in order to hire Dooley. He wasn’t gettable after we hired Kiffin. I had never heard that we even got an interview with Whittingham. If that’s true, I stand corrected on that. But your first post that I responded to sounded like you were suggesting sounded like Dooley was picked over Whittingham...and that’s not true. If that wasn’t your point my bad.

Oh hell no. See my last post. Everyone thought wittingham was our coach until he turned us down Friday morning.

Fwiw I remember kw turning us down...

But we didn't hire Dooley OVER anyone... Except whoever was 9th or 10th...

Just a quick update on my grandfather. I went to visit today. Doctors continue to say he should be improving but he's now deteriorated to the point where he cant stand up or even hold a conversation. This isn't the grandfather I knew even a month ago. Hes not eating or drinking almost at all. Every day he loses more of his mind. Watching a tall and large person such as himself shrink up to damn near nothing is heartbreaking. At this rate we will not be able to watch another football game together and that makes me very sad.

Anyway carry on!!!
