One thing I’ll say about Pruitt, good coaching, and “the rebuild.”
In another life, I was a Cowboys fan. Early 2000s we were a perpetual dumpster fire.
Jerry needs a new stadium built, so to garner support, he shelves his ego and hires a real coach - Parcells.
Philadelphia Eagles were our daddy for a while. Vastly superior team.
First time Eagles come to Texas stadium, they were heavy favorites. Rightfully so.
Eagles get ready for the opening kick off and Parcells alerted his team to be ready for a possible onside kick. Sure enough it comes, and a bottom of the roster WR named Randall Williams caught it on a bounce and returned it for a touchdown. Cowboys had no real business winning that game - but did.
McNabb vs Quincy Carter. Deuce Staley vs Troy Hambrick. Etc. top to bottom they were the better team.
Parcells had Dallas ready and we stole the game.
We already saw Pruitt do that for us last year. Had we not run out of gas (again, goes back to years of poor S&C), we might’ve been able to do it once or twice more.
Point is, coaching matters in football probably more than in any other professional sport. We’re in good hands with this coach and this staff.
UGA is reeling in insane talent every year but I still have doubts about what kind of coach Kirby is. I’ll take our guy over him.
The length of the rebuild is dependent upon what you consider the finished project to be. To me, it’s being in strong contention for the SECCG in late November. I say we could be there by 2021.
