The problem is that you've got the premise completely wrong. I WANT the Vols to win but I THINK Fulmer needs to step aside for ultimate success."
The question that begs to be asked is are we ready for some real struggles should the coaching change happen?
"We both think that Fulmer needs to step aside; the difference is that I wouldn't mind being proven wrong."
Ga Vol I could not agree more.
"I believe you think in simple terms. Regardless of who I "pull for" has no impact on the outcome. The sad reality, in my humble opinion, is that Hamilton cannot, or will not, make the decision that needs to be made. Fulmer has been lackluster (overall) since winning the whole enchilada in 1998. I feel that the only thing that will force Hamilton to make a change is, sadly, a losing season.
I was intrigued by this so I looked at some coaches records from 1998 to 2007. First just the records.
1.99-29
2.92-36
3.93-32
4.74-48
5.93-34
Now for who they are and I found this to be interesting.
1.99-29 Frank Beamer Believe it or not there are some here in Va who are calling for him to step down. He has been at his alma mater longer than CPF.
2.92-36 Bobby Bowden A couple of 7-6 seasons and some want him gone also.
3.93-32 LLoyd Carr He was asked to leave because he could not beat OSU.
4.74-48 Who the heck is this guy? Here at UT he would have been run out of town. This is Joe Paterno . Yes a lot of Penn State people wanted him gone also. But how should you replace an icon? I feel sorry for his eventual successor.
5.93-34 Phillip Fulmer OK OK he hasn't had us in the hunt for the NC or SEC crown lately or beaten UF. Lackluster is debatable but this just shows me how spoiled we have become.
I should not have to remind everyone about the cycles in sports. It is what it is.
Having said the above I also think that it is time for a change. I just hope that if there is a change that the new coach is there for the long haul and not a coach that will jump for greener pastures.
Lastly, there is no way that I could hope the Vols lose. NO WAY
