I do not..I would rather argue about LeBron vs Jordan for goat. That's fine. I'll take the last word. The show was definitely drawing a correlation to Abraham with the scene. And in both stories the father believed they were doing the right thing. So if we agree Abraham wasn't evil, then stannis wasn't evil for that specific act. The lord of light was for not stopping him if anything. I'm not trying to say anything negative about Abraham or the bible. Just pointing out the fully intended correlation from the show. But I know we tend to have these black and white vs gray debates because of the differences in how we view the world. Definitely not trying to attack you though. I enjoy these debates.
He knew Shireen was going to die, he knew it was going to be a horrible, maybe even the most painful, death a human can suffer. He had no thoughts that R'hollor was going to stop her death or bring her ashes back to life..and..he did it to elevate himself. There was a reason most people outside of Davos hated him. He saw the world in black and white, but he had little love (what precious little he did have in his heart...he burned alive) and no mercy or compassion in him.For the record though I do think what he did was evil.
He believed God would give him a way out. Both he and stannis believed they were doing their God's will was the point. Both believed they were doing the right thing in their God's eyes.

One reason I don't like to debate, I am not as good as others with expressing thoughts like these. You said this perfectly. I have my talents..this is not one of them. I know I do well one on one inspiring people that are sincerely searching for hope, that is my gift, but apologetics is not my strong suit. What I find amazing in the biblical account is that God ultimately provides Abraham with an alternative to child sacrifice. Child sacrifice was common in some religions in the ancient near East (thus Abraham was at first willing to go along if this is what he thought God required) but this was a symbolic act in which God showed Abraham it wasn’t necessary. God provided a sufficient separate sacrifice: the ram in the thicket (...crown of thorns? ..cool imagery). God’s law given to Moses condemned the practice in no uncertain terms and it was condemned throughout the OT. The prophet Micah, asked the question 'Shall I give my firstborn for my sin, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?' To which the response was 'He has shown all you people what is good. And what does Yahweh require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Clearly the God of the Bible didn’t require child sacrifice of his people.
The most amazing part though is that God the Father didn’t spare his own Son. While we were yet sinners He gave is only Son as a sacrifice for our sin. What he doesn’t require from us he did himself.
Lots of powerful imagery there and so much more you could unpack. I’ve always thought the Abrahamic story is cherry picked out of the OT and misunderstood by unbelievers as being barbaric and immoral. ...I’ve always wondered by what immutable, non material, transcendent standard they judge it as immoral and how they think such a standard came into being in their purely materialistic conception of reality - but that’s a different discussion!

The Lost Decade – The scoreboard generally tells the story so I looked at the conference rankings for scoring defenses and scoring offenses just against conference opponents for the past decade to see where everyone ranked year by year. In this lost decade we were 2-21 against teams from the west. We were 23-57 against teams from the east. Our conference record during this lost decade was 25-76.
There are at least a couple positive takeaways from this chart in the form of precedents. Chaney spent two years at Arkansas in 2013 & 14 developing Brandon Allen. He progressed every year so when Enos took over in 2015 and Bielema had accepted that his Big Ten offense wasn’t going to rule the day in the SEC, Enos let loose Allen and Arkansas had the #1 scoring offense in the conference that year. Unfortunately for Arkansas that would be the same year they had the #12 scoring defense in the conference.
In his freshman year at Missouri, Drew Lock failed to complete 50% of his passes. His offense that year fell to dead last in the conference at #14 and even though Mizzou had the 3rd best scoring defense in the conference we beat them that year. The following year Lock improved to just shy of 55% and their offense moved up to the 11th spot in the conference. They scored 37 points on us that year but since their defense had fallen from #3 down to #11 to match their offense we scored 63 on then to notch back to back wins. In his JR and SR years Lock commanded the #3 scoring offense in the conference, putting up a combined 100 points on us for those two games. For his 4 years he ended up on top in scoring against us 145-116. Next time we’re in the right position we need to run up the score on those guys.
In order to be successful in our conference we need to be at least above average on both sides of the line of scrimmage. We have been out of sync for so long it’s basically sapped a lot of our faith in ourselves. Chaney’s last offense here was squandered by the hire of Sunseri and the switch over to a 3-4 defense that year. Based on the tidbits I’ve heard that wasn’t Dooley who made that call. I don’t know for sure but I think it was Hart. I think we have good coaches on both sides of the ball now. We have fairly decent talent on both sides of the ball. Obviously we’re young but returning a lot of production. We’ll still likely be returning a lot of production next year.
I think we’re moving in the right direction and can soon put this lost decade behind us and maybe, to that end, our number one Ace in the hole right now is we have someone at the top of the Athletic Department that not only knows what it’s supposed to look like but is not, in the words of JFK, a prisoner of his own price tag. I don’t know that he is at every practice but from the photos I see it sure looks like it. We have our man on watch now. A good man.
So how many games does this mean we’re likely to win this year? I don’t know. It doesn’t really matter. None of us are going anywhere. We all have had our chances during this lost decade and for the most part we’re all still here. Our faith may have been shaken but we will not surrender. We will not give up. We will fight on. No matter the cost, no matter the pain, we will fight on. #GBO
Go read the part about Deandre Baker recruitment... 16 years old, never saw tape of him, saw him at a camp with 100 other players, pulled him aside and asked how many offers he had. Zero. Offered him on the spot and committed on the spot... that story goes against all the protocols we think coaches should follow in recruiting
Robert never legitimized Gendry as Roose Bolton did Ramsey Snow. Gendry was a threat to the Lannister’s claim if their parentage had leaked...hence the purge. Stannis was next in line. Not really. We thought gendry was until the last two seasons revealed the true heir. Not saying who in case someone’s isn’t seen it

agreed. said it last year looking at some of the lower rated guys he was targetting....they just "looked the part" moreso than what hte last staff was bringing in. felt like everyone was 6'2" 230 lol.....Pruitt has always been great at evaluations. He got into it with Kirby about Ramsey. Kirby wasn’t pushing hard enough for who Pruitt thought was a first rd guy. Made it easy for Pruitt to pull Ramsey to FSU.
Also impressive that he is who went to bat for Saban to take a look at Jacobs and who got baker and abrams to uga. All 3 were 3 stars that ended up first rd picks.
I’d bet we see some of that play out here over next 2-3 yrs
