Derrick Walker enters Transfer Portal

Since the NCAA opened up the transfer process, off the top of my head I can’t think of any senior transfers in the country that made such a significant contribution that equated to championships. If there is any proof out there in the media I haven’t been able to find it. Walker is certainly not going to make a significant contribution regardless of where he goes and I don’t see any transfers to UT that could do the same.

Texas tech only real success story I can think

If you lose Grant, and you “nudge” Walker out, it has to be a transfer player you take as a big. You can’t go with Fulky/Burns/Kent as your big rotation, especially with the offense we play. It’d be nice to have a stretch 4 that can play defense, but I haven’t looked enough into transfers to see who would be available.

247 guys (Ramey) mentioned this guy as a possible transfer in:

"Uros Plavsic would make a ton of sense. Went to Hamilton Heights before signing with Arizona State. Was a redshirt there this season. Went there because they had a Serbian on staff, same guy that was a former GA under Barnes at Tennessee. Uros is 7-foot. Not far from 7-1. And 240 pounds. Steps into the void left by Kyle Alexander. Assuming he’d be ready to contribute and could be eligible immediately. "

Wouldn't he have to sit out a year?

I would say Tariq Owens had a pretty big impact on TTU’s season

Bingo. Wasn’t gonna put his name out there before others, but good scoop from Ramey.

Stanford transfer Reid Travis was pivotal for UK and really helped Kentucky season they looked lost without his leadership when he went down with a injury for a couple of games.

The Serbian guy on ASU staff was Drazen Zlovaric. If that name sounds familiar, he played at UGA about 10 years ago. Zlovaric was at Cleveland State, and Plavsic was committed there and then he followed Zlovaric out to ASU, where Plavsic signed his LOI.

No championship but Ky got their goon and that sure helped their team. Also, didnt Texas Tech has 2 grad transfers?

If we have to depend on Fulkerson to do anything then it’ll be a long season. I like some of the things he does but 99% of the time he just looks like the most uncoordinated basketball player in history of basketball players.

Disagree 100%. The kid has talent and an aggressive streak. He will continue to improve as he gets stronger.

Really shouldn't matter for a waiver if the rules are applied

And besides I don't see a guy that wasn't good enough to play as a freshman being that answer for us
Just because you redshirt doesn't mean you weren't good enough to play. See DJ Burns as an example.

There’s a long list of guys who have redshirted being contributors the following year, need examples?

Yea I'd love to see a list of guys that RS on bubble teams or worse and were diffence makers the following year. I'd guess that list is very short

Burns is a very unique circumstance on a damn good team. This guy doesn't compare in those ways and besides I am not convinced Burns or ready to be that guy either

Lol now you throw in disclaimers, moving goal posts? Should we include only teams in Arizona as well?

I feel another contract buyout coming in about two years!

Lol

Well you can include all guys if you want but Arizona state wasn't an elite team this year and that is relevant

Did Arizona State known preseason that they were going to be a bubble team?

If Tennessee had a rough year and got in as a 10 seed is Burns suddenly a less talented player?
