I will be in the downtown St. Louis area for two nights in a couple of weeks. Recommendations for restaurants. I am really interested in something "local" but have no preference regarding the type of cuisine. TIA.

nope. don't really have a baseball team per se....i tend to pull for underdogs in the WS. so i rooted for the cubs.....great story. rooted for the Red sox in 04. and would root for the pirates if they ever did anything worth noting. lol.

There's a difference between expecting miracles and watching for signs of improvement.. or lack of.

“Source close to the administration” is Guerrero. Taking heat for skimping on both Dixon’s and Barnes buyout.

Wegmans is really cool. It's a supermarket chain that's biggest in Western New York, but it has a significant presence in PA, VA, and to a degree in New England as well. It's known for organic and locally sourced food, hot bars and made to order foods. Similar in style to Whole Foods, but a much better presentation and aesthetic, and none of the tryhard pretense. Prices are very reasonable as well. It's a family owned company who offer their employees very competitive pay and benefits, so they're a company that's definitely an asset to the community. It's not a soulless big box retailer that enters a community to kill off local purveyors of similar goods and services.

I had the exact same experience when I was in NY and that's how I first learned about the chain. They really do have a passionate following of customers, and rightfully so. I do the majority of my shopping at Earth Fare for similar reasons.

So far the most impressive thing about Pruitt for me has been staff relationships.

Butch ran people off, as did Dooley it seemed.

Pruitt keeping so many of his staff who all got targeted to go elsewhere and then being able to pull in the 3 new guys he did, was amazing.

Fair being the only departure that wasn't leaving for essentially a promotional, and we chose to let him go.

Not to mention fair did basically nothing with kelly and Pruitt doing DBs

Not a food recommendation, but the City Museum is sooooo much fun. And it’s not at all what the name would lead you to imagine.

Getting Ansley blew my mind. Yes, there are some benefits but all in all, I'm amazed. He was making short lists in the NFL also, to my understanding.

Yes, I don't understand evaluating before they have all their players. Unless, of course, they prove they are clueless like BJ and the are moving in a downward spiral.

agreed, though Tee's situaiton this year, vs. last, made it more possible. still, Tee had options......he didn't have to come here.....

Ansley i thought was a little bit bigger deal....just because he was already in the NFL, had already done the college gig to it's best.....and gettiing him to leave the NFL....well, i would have bet against that.

both great hires.

and i'm still probably more shocked we got Chaney than any of them. not that he would consider coming here....we all knew he liked his time at TN...but that we were able to come up with the deal to get it done.

said it when all this was going down, said it when we retained Fits, and said it when we retained Barnes....this athletic department is showing it's committed to investing in the resources (people, not just builidings) required to win again.

and that's the best news about all the coaching moves we've made the last 4 or so months.

Just illustrating that silly blanket “rules” like letting a coach have an entire graduating class cycle through before being able to fairly evaluate is nonsense. Most of the time, you can tell after 3 years off football and recruiting. Of course, there are exceptions to this as well.

Maybe I quoted the wrong post...oh well.
